Emerson (Emmy) Hartwell has waited for a spot on an NHL roster since she became a professional hockey player, and this season, she’ll finally get a chance to showcase her talents with the struggling D.C. Stars. Maverick Miller is the best player in the league, but he’s never had a winning record. Team captain and desperate to turn things around, he agrees to play nice with the fiery new left-winger even though they’re total opposites. After a night where the tension between them reaches a tipping point and they fall in bed together, Emmy and Maverick vow it was only one time. Just once to get it out of their systems so they can play better and help their team. It doesn’t mean anything. She doesn’t date hockey players. He’s a notorious playboy who doesn’t date. Period. Except… what should’ve been just once happens again, then again. They tell each other their friends with benefits arrangement is only for the season, but despite facing off on the ice, behind closed doors, the pair is nothing but fire. Face Off is a spicy dislike to lovers sports romance with professional athletes, friends with benefits, he falls first and a guaranteed happily ever after. This is an alternate cover edition with the same content and interior as the illustrated cover. Review: A great hockey romance! - The DC Stars series is amazing. Just a great read. stunning alternate cover!
KBG Designs nailed this redesigned cover for my favourite Chelsea Curto book! I'm so obsessed with this book that I had to have it in every cover design including the main cartoon design, this one and the foiled special edition. Not only my favourite Chelsea Curto book, but one of my all time favourite hockey romances - and I've read a lot of them lol

What a book!
I love everything about this book - the way it is written, the banter, the MCs, the rest of the characters, the storyline, EVERYTHING. Truly recommend reading it.

The best thing is the cover
1.5 ⭐️ I tend to eat up hockey romances, and I expected nothing else from this one. Unfortunately that was NOT the case. The beginning of this was okay. But when we reached about 30-40% it just went downhill for me. For starters: pretty boy and Emmy girl are the most obnoxious nicknames I have ever experienced in a book. I really could NOT get over it. Pretty boy is a term that was highly used when I was a teenager and would describe a boy that would pluck his eyebrows, self tan to a point of looking orange and wear skinny jeans. So naturally that was the image that entered my brain every time our FMC used this name for our MMC. Yuck. Secondly I really didn’t like the insta-love in this, and I’m actually surprised that not more people have commented on this. Did we read the same book? Was I just not in the right mood for a hockey romance (surely that’s not the case since I’m always in the mood for a hockey romance). Thirdly, that dialogue was very cringe. When I reached (surprisingly) 85% I literally just skimmed through the rest because the dialogue was THAT cheesy. Fourthly, where was the drama? The plot? I was very bored. I settled on 1.5 stars since I initially did enjoy the beginning, but honestly I probably should have dnf’ed this book. Are the other books in the series better? At least this alternate cover is nice
