Gardena 18614-20 66 Foot Auto Retractable Hose Reel on Metal Spike, Feet, Standard, Turquoise

High quality product. I had a retractable hose unit in the past that was junk (Not from this manufacturer. It was a different brand.) This unit mounts into the ground so it stays put. My old one rolled on wheels so it would move when trying to retract. This reels up the hose perfectly every time. The mechanism in the old unit would not move side to side smoothly when rewinding. This is made of high quality materials that is sturdy. The other unit was made of cheap flimsy plastic. I used teflon tape when attaching my hose to the quick disconnect to make sure the threads or gasket on my hose would not leak. If I did not, this could be an easy way to blame the disconnects for leaking when it would be the fault of the hose that I used to connect to the unit. (I installed the unit about ten feet away from the hose shut off.). Everything worked perfectly. Not a single leak. The thick solid steel pipe included to twist the unit to drive the stake into the ground worked perfectly and was necessary. The stake that twists into the ground is very large to make sure the unit is secure. It would have been impossible to twist in the stake all the way without it. Ones screwed into the ground it is extremely secure so it does not move when pulling out the house or retracting the hose.

Attaches easily, allows easy watering, rolling up is OK. Slight downside on installation - the plastic base is not perfectly made, there are NO screw threads or inserts, so impossible to fix the two parts with the screws provided! I had to place threaded inserts myself. Also, make sure that the entire metal spike is in the ground, so make sure that there is nothing underneath.

Amazing, if you consider getting a garden hose. Don't look further, either get this one with the spike or get the one that mounts to the wall. This product is such high quality, I describe it as the Porsche GT3 RS of the gardening world. So simple, yet so quality.
