How long is the large screw? I’m looking for a 2.5” screw.

they're shorter than 2"; however my contractor built in a support board between each stud before installing the drywall so the screws went straight in the wood. Very sturdy brackets they support my fiesta dishes

what size screws are provided. #8, #9, #10? I want to get my own to fit the countersunk hole.

Our screws are universal and can be used for 6in,8in,10in,and 12in sizes.

How much weight does it hold if it's not in a stud?

Hi Anna, Much depends on the weight of your shelf plus the items it’s to hold. Preferably at least one bracket should be into a solid wood stud if possible. These brackets are very thick and heavy duty. They came with three anchor types for solid, hollow wall and masonry. Using four of the hollow wall anchors per bracket should hold a decent amount of weight. You can always use a Hillman hollow wall anchor which claims a 3/16” inch anchor will hold 70 lbs in 1/2” drywall. Just make sure the wall board is sound!

Sleek, strong, but not quite square.

Pretty strong, but they weren't all square to start with which was really frustrating as they're quite thick and strong, so not very easy to bend back square. Easy to install, and very strong once in place. I have a few shelves with 50kg + and these are absolutely strong enough. Also, the upstands are pretty shallow, so hide well. Would deffo buy again, but would look around for ones that ensure squareness to start first.
