So far this vacuum has worked very well indeed. I like the way it switches between mopping and vacuuming, and raises the mop well away from carpet. Its identification of obstacles works well - we don't have to be as obsessive about tidying up before vacuuming as we were with our previous Neato. There are lots of options to control it. It prompts for necessary maintenance and tracks when tasks are needed. By giving obstacles and skirting boards a wide margin, the Roborock avoided the black scrapes on the skirting that were so common with our Neato. However the downside is that the edges of the room do not get very clean. They will require "proper" vacuuming regularly.. There are of course a few software deficiencies or frustrations. When operating on a different floor it runs out of water and the process to carry it back and reload is rather clumsy. If it needs to add a room that you missed on the first pass, that can be difficult to do reliably. If the canister fills with dust there is no warning, it just carries on with the cleaning even though there is no room to colllect dust. It gets confused by floor-height mirrors (need to programme a no-go red line manually). When recharging it will spend literally hours, even if only another 5% is needed to finish the job. But all these things are relatively minor.

Was really excited to try this replacement for our aging neato d7. Packaged well, felt like the build quality was really good. Although... The swing out arm never worked The side mop was firmly locked and would not spin or raise off the floor so was just dragged around across carpets, etc The unit gave out error 56 at what seemed random intervals and was connected to the vibrarise system which has failed As for performance in cleaning carpets, our old neato did a far superior job ( we needed to empty its dustbin every other day ). Whereas the s8 MaxV Ultra seemed to only collect a fraction of this and after a week of use the dustbag seemed to have virtually nothing in it. Have returned it to Amazon and are currently awaiting a refund. Purchased a new one hoping that i was just unlucky with the 1st one....worked fine for 1 year 5 days ( Roborock state 2 year warranty...but if you purchase off them through Amazon then its only 1 year ) then the motor that empties the dustbin failed and roborock advised me to send it for repair....I wont be buying Roborock again.

Very good. It gets an absolute hammering in our house, it works so well I think we are addicted to using it. You know it works because the floors look incredible. Emptying the dirty water bucket is another giveaway. We had bought and returned a Roomba, but saw a positive review for this on YouTube. Most of the 'discussions' about housework in our house centre on the floors, this has made a real difference for us.

The truth is that it is fiddly to use, gets stuck a lot, and is average at cleaning (at best). I find that when it comes to woolen rugs it cannot cope at all.

Its a very impressive machine, so easy to set up! Only 2 minutes to join the home WiFi, add water and it was off mapping and cleaning the whole house. The mop wash function is a definite bonus, as previous cleaners did not have this so we rarely used the mop. Amazing how dirty the waste water is after a mop. Also good how it lifts the mop up when going over carpets. All very clever. Being able to speak to control the device very useful, saves having to use the app all the time. Its not too noisy when cleaning, even the dog has accepted it into the house. Very happy with the thorough cleaning ability on hard floors, rugs and carpets, it's a great addition to the household.

The vacuuming and obstacle avoidance seemed brilliant, and it was very efficient. The mopping felt lacking, with no ability to adjust wetness, it seemed like the equivalent of wiping a semi-damp cloth over the floor. The base station was, in my opinion, one of the best looking ones available, with a nice glow to show when it needed attention, the water tanks are solid and easy to access, and the profile is possibly one of the better ones - not too tall. I also love the gimmicky little features like the remote control, camera and speaker. It meant I could watch my dogs whilst I wasn't at home and even talk to them. The app was fairly comprehensive, and the mapping with LIDAR is brilliant. Sadly mine experienced a fault with the mop after just a couple of weeks. I'm not sure if it ever worked based on the mop performance, but after 2 weeks it refused to work if I ever included mopping on the function. I contacted Roborock and after sending them evidence they then refused to answer, their customer support seems to be non-existent. I have found out that this fault is very common with this product, but Roborock don't want to acknowledge it. The error code the robot actually plays out loud isn't even listed on their website. So in the end I had to return to Amazon. I cannot recommend this product as I feel it'll be a lottery whether you'll encounter the issue and if you do there is no support for it. I have now bought a different brand.

I don't consider this product as an expense. Its an investment that saved me tons of time. Not only that my house is super clean on a daily basis now but saved me a ton of time. I have a husky and you can imagine the amount of hair they shed. This robo cleaner is just the right tool for a neat and clean house. Very low maintenance. If you could manage a model with water inlet and outlet, this is even better. No need to refill every time. Although I already have a bosch wireless vaccum cleaner and everyone in my family was like why you need another one, but trust me they are complementary to each other. If my house gets too dirty or dirty in place robo cleaner can't reach my vaccum cleaner comes really handy and the rest is taken care by robo cleaner. If cleanliness is next to godliness, I sure am closer to god :P
