First Edition by Chris Cheyette, Yello Balolia (ISBN: 9781908261182) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Tasty Salads, photos in back for portions are brilliant for dressings, starches, protein and salad items - This is one of the best recipe books I've ever purchased (and I confess, I buy a few). I purchased this book because I'm don't really have a huge variety of great salad recipes and also I wanted to watch what my husband and I are eating more closely. I consider us to already be fairly healthy but both could do with loosing 3-4kg/6-7pounds/1/2 a stone. I really like this book because there is so much variety for watching intake of carbs/proteins/fats/fibre, as well as if we wish to work out the total calorie intake for the day. We are 3 weeks in eating salads mon-fri for lunch and dinner and still haven't tried them all. Really interesting to see how LITTLE dressing one needs to put on to give it that bit of sass. I don't think any of the ingredients are hard to come by, which makes a refreshing change from all the latest trends. I would suggest if you are cooking for one or two people, it is easier to double the recipe and eat the salad for dinner one night and lunch the next day. Plan a little ahead and choose set salads that you can double up on ingredients, so that there is no waste. An example would be Sweet Potato and Rosemary Salad (absolutely delicious) 80 grams of sweet potato, 80grams of cooked wild rice- so I would cook the whole sweet potato and double the recipe (same for the rice), or set the additional cooked potato and rice for a couple of other salads that have these ingredients. The other fabulous thing is the visuals in the back of the book (even though you can choose to weigh everything), is a great indicator of how much you should use. I now know that 2 small new potatoes is about 100 grams. Lovely, easy and great photos. I hope they bring out a seasonal cookbook next. I have the smoothie book and it is excellent too. Highly recommend if you are trying to lose weight, or add variety to meals, learn about what portion sizes actually look like. Don't be fooled these salads are really tasty and that is from my husband who likes a gastro hamburger. Review: Lovely book - This is such a lovely little book. I had actually bought it by accident, as I am vegan, and this is not vegan recipe book (tho there are a few vegetarian and vegan recipes) but the recipes are so nice and interesting that I kept it anyway, as I can adapt most of the recipes to suit. For every recipe there is a clear picture, and a full rundown of all the nutrional values. All the recipes are simple and straightforward, with no impossible to find ingredients, or complicated preparations. I love the simplicity of them! Even the book itself is lovely, with sturdy, shiny paper. Tho dressings are part of each recipe, there is a seperate section where you can go to look at all the different dressings, again with all the details. At the back of the book are pictures and full nutrional details of all the salad ingredients. It's a well thought out, beautifully illustrated, and full of proper, useful recipes that you will actually want to, and be able to, make. I have a big collection of recipe books, but this is one of the nicest and enjoyable to use!

Good options - I would have liked more variety on ...
Good options - I would have liked more variety on the Low Carb options - I am following the Micheal Mosey Low Blood Sugar Diet which keeps you to 800 calories a day so this was useful - the BEST part are ingredients list towards the back. Simple and easy to use, very clear and so so useful. I will buy the Carbs and Cals food index book next I think!

Inspirational
The book itself is so colourful, it gives you a lift immediately and makes you want to eat salad. It has some great recipes but most of all I like the ingredient pictures. You can put together your own salad and know exactly what the calories etc are but the great pictures encourage you to buy ingredients over and above the usual lettuce, cucumber and tomato. My first thought was why would anyone want a book on salad but I am delighted I bought this one.

Love this book!
Carbs & Cals Salads: 80 Healthy Salad Recipes & 350 Photos of Ingredients to Create Your Own! I have made lots of these recipes and love them all. There is a salad to choose whether I am really hungry, need extra protein or not very hungry. I have been using the book at least 4 times weekly for 8 weeks and I have not become bored with salads. Great book, have also purchased the smoothies one and calorie counting book. I would definitely recommend, especially if you are trying to control calories, you can have a really nutritious meal for 2-300 calories and be full afterwards.

Seems to hard
Hated this, salads look too complicated to be bothered with and just didn't appear tasty enough. I'm sure it's a good book it just didn't excite me enough to make anything!

Life savers! xx
ALL these little books are a must for people trying to lose weight or wanting to watch what they’re eating. They are just wonderful and full of great ideas, recipes and help. Why give money to some large organisation who just try and entice you to buy their sweets and other bad treats, when you can put together a little exercise, if you are able and just follow these little life saving books.
