I was a little skeptical at first but after using these gloves moving things around on my grill I have to say I was impressed. I was wondering why they were so long but after moving things around my grill I can see why they engineered it this way. It protects your wrists and the lower part of your arm from getting burned. I also took these with me when I went camping. It was a breeze to pick up the end pieces of wood that were sitting right next to the fire. I also picked up a few pieces that were smoldering and am happy to report that they held up well and protected my hands from getting burned. The gloves are on the thicker side but this offers more protection for your hands. The hot wood I was holding never made my hands feel uncomfortable despite holding some pieces of very hot wood for much longer than I would normally. The pattern on the gloves not only looks cool but also are rubberized which offers you more grip when handling items. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who grills or likes to build camp fires.

However, the exterior is cotton-based, which limits performance in direct flame situations. While repositioning a grill grate over a ~300°F grill, the cotton exterior burned through fairly quickly. The internal liner held up, but heat was felt. Grip is good and they work well for handling pots, grates, and grilling tools. They are particularly useful when using an electronic fire starter, keeping hands at a safe distance from the heat. The gloves are flexible, not overly stiff, and allow good hand movement.
