After reading this twice I can say that this is a great tome. Great for DMs and the artwork is very inspiring. Things I liked Fantastic artwork Updated stats to make monster challenging for D&D5.5e Very well organised New average Initiative makes combat encounters faster Great quality of print. Things I did not like The treasure attached to mosters feels like an after thought and does not add much to the game Less lore than the previous 2014 DMG Overall great value for money, lots of monsters and inspiring art (the dragons look amazing). Amazing book! I liked just for its graphics, a lot of pictures and good explanation of all the monsters you’ll find in the D&D universe. Very beautiful and a must to have it just for the pictures and for cataloging all these beautiful creatures (at least for me, even if we are talking about monsters:) Very satisfying to have it just som reading material for now…It’ll be a lot of fun to use it in gaming too. Highly recommended!

Best monster manual yet. Has a great layout and has made running games more streamlined. I think this the last wizards book I have seen value in its price point.

This the book as advertised. Some great artwork and easy explanations of monsters, stats, and descriptions to aid in describing during game. A must for Druids focusing on wild shape. Hard cover will help it last for years and is a good value for those that play often.

Is your party steamrolling your 2014 5e Monster manual monsters? Do you want your spellcasting enemies to feel like a threat on their own? Do you want the creatures you throw at your party to feel like their CR is more accurate than the arbitrary number of 5e? If you answered yes to the above, this is a solid addition to your books, while there is the occasional typo and WoTC has had some issues, the new 2024 Monster Manual is a SOLID choice, especially if you still run 5e as it remains compatible. The sheer heft of the book compared to the previous edition is a surprise, and worth every penny.

This version of the quintessential monster book for D&D will hit 95% of what you love about bestiaries. The art is phenomenal and evocative. Just the art alone gives so many DM ideas for the active use of the creatures included in creative ways. The glow up to the average monster makes them both more streamlined and potentially deadly. The addition of many very high CR creatures (and with potency to match their epic CRs) finally makes true high level play viable. The organization is better and more user friendly. My only two minor quibbles…: 1: No rules for using the math to build a custom creature. 2: The Owl Bear is not a beast…. I mean, come on…. Has Wizards even watched Honor Among Thieves?? Easy to house rule though :). All in all, the best Monster Manual D&D has ever produced by a long shot. I have played since basic and this is by far the best. You will not be disappointed

An ideal manual for all D&D fans, great price.

A great resource for the classic monsters of D&D. Makes DM'ing easier with inspiration for encounters so your players have more fun. The full descriptions are helpful for getting consistent play across multiple encounters and the full-color illustrations are helpful for descriptions. This can also be used as a resource to develop your own monsters and to write them up. The Monster Manual is the ideal companion book for the DM's Guide and worth the investment to take your craft to the next level.
