OTG, On-the-Go, is a capability that allows a device to become a USB host. OTG cables have an extra pin in them. The cables or adapters are used for data transfer. Basically, if your device has OTG capability, you can attach another device to it, such as a USB drive, or you can attach two phones together. Not every phone or device has this capability, and not every cable can be used to make the connections. Some cables, for example, are only useful for charging. This cable has two ends that are both micro USB male ends. So if, for example, you have two phones that are OTG capable and both have a micro USB port (typically for older phones as newer ones usually have a USB-C port), and you want to transfer data between the two but can’t do so wirelessly and you don’t want to connect both to a computer, this is the sort of cable you’d need. This cable works fine. Most people won’t need one, but it is handy to have if you do.

And just the right length. I'm so glad to have gotten this cable! It's small, but it solved a big problem, to be sure. Quality manufacture too.
