VERY nice and tough knife for the money.
It's incredible that they can offer a knife this nice for this price. VERY stout and sturdy knife and came shaving sharp out of the box. Granted with a little work on my Spyderco sharpmaker it shaved a lot nicer and with almost no resistance but they don't have that kind of time at the factory for a budget knife. I see a lot of people complain about the hollow grind but i don't see the big deal because it is a VERY shallow hollow grind. It honestly looks more like a nice saber grind but if you run your fingers down it you can feel a slight belly to it to know it is a hollow grind. The handle is very comfortable and the knife balances very nice in the hand right at the guard. The sheath is a pretty nice sheath too and on par with much more expensive knives like ESEE. Yeah it's not kydex but it is still a very tough and durable feeling polymer. I love that it has several holes and slots to lash it or secure it just about any way you can think up. It gives you MANY options to attach it to about anything. Finally for anybody turned off by the "made in Tiawan" part, do some research. Tiawan is a very good metal and blade producing country on par with Japan and the US. Some REALLY nice blades and steel come out of Tiawan. Ask any Spyderco collector and they'll tell you that the blades from Tiawan are some of the better ones made. Tiawan doesn't mean cheap as far as quality goes. Overall this knife is a really nice knife and would give most $100+ knives a good run for their money. Trust me I own several. I have to put this knife in the same category as my beloved Mora's as far as value for the money goes. Yeah this knife costs as much as three Mora's but it's also substantially more knife too with a nicer sheath. That's a good compliment too because the Mora knife is probably the greatest "knife for the money" knife on the planet.

Excellent knife!
Cold Steel ALWAYS produces an excellent knife. I own several of their fine knives. All come well made and all have quality steel for the blades. This knife is no exception. Handle is very comfortable, secure in the hand. The blade is thick, sharp right out of the box. Edge grind is perfect. A 6 in. Blade is perfect for me. The sheath is kydex and well made. This knife has no bells or whistles, it's just a well made sturdy blade. Perfect for bushcraft, combat, or any need you may have. Like a lot of knives that may let you down...this one will be there through tick and thin. It is damn near a perfect knife.

Solid Blade worth the price
I love the blade on the knife. I wish the the handle was not plastic rubber. A solide bone or a thick wood or thick treated leather like a KA-Bar was on it. Plastic rubber grips slip from sweaty hands or liquid. The steal on the knife is solid and strong. It has decent balance. This knife works but how many years will it last I have to wonder? I have broken knife while on hunting trips and had friends crack up along with me as a solid shank blade can't even cut dear flesh, to be skinned. I wonder how this blad will handle tuffer skins, like shark or pig skin, cow hide etc. For now I give it 5 Stars because like I said the steals real strong. I wish knife were not so over priced and low quality with hype. I would love to find a cheap cold forged steel solid full shank blade 6" knife under $75 bucks. The problem is when people machine forge a blade they act like it should cost more than raw forged.

great outdoor survival knife!!!
This outdoor survival knife is an essential companion for any adventurer. Its exceptional grip and perfect weight balance make it feel incredibly comfortable in hand, enhancing your control while using it. Out of the box, the blade is razor-sharp, ready to tackle any task you throw its way. The only minor drawback is that the sheath feels a bit tight, but with time, it’s expected to loosen up. Overall, this knife is a must-have for those who value quality and functionality in the great outdoors.

Sheath sucks
Knife itself is great. But the sheath collar doesn't snap shut very easily. It's very tight. The knife seems very tough and feels good in the hand. It's a lot of steel. Basically feels like a pry bar with a sharp edge on it. Black coating is a joke though and comes off very easily.

Excellent value for the price
Best hunting/camping/GP knife under $50 that money can buy. While not a knife or metallurgical expert I do know a thing or two about what makes for a good knife especially a great hunting/camping/outdoors knife and good knife steel. This knife features a very good knife steel of Cold Steels proprietary SK-5 knife steel which offers a good balance of high strength, high durability, great edge retention, very easy to keep scary hair popping sharp and re-sharpen and although not a stainless steel, offers decent corrosion resistance due to its 0.25% copper content. Undoubtedly SK-5 is very good knife alloy that has benefitted from a equally good heat treating process as is the reality in the world of knife steels you're better off with a so-so knife alloy that has been given a superior heat treat than a superior alloy that was given an inferior heat treat. I own fixed blade knives made by BlackJack of Effingham IL, Bucks Knives, AG Russell, Ka-Bar, OKC, Schrade, Old Timer, Kershaw and of course Cold Steel so I have knives that vary in price point form <$50 to well over $400 and this Cold Steel SK-5 has it all to make for a very good all purpose outdoors/camping/hunting knife. Heavy duty thick blade, razor sharp edge, great ergonomics, excellent zero slip grip and an absolutely outstanding essentially indestructible sheath that allows you to carry it however you need to or wish to. If you are looking for an absolutey awesome general purpose outdoors knife that's not too large or to costly I can not recommend the 6" balded Cold Steel SR-K

Paid $38.31!!!!
For $40 you get a 6" knife with a decent sheath that is a general use "jack of all trades, master of none" working knife that will serve most well. It is a good knife w/sheath that is extremely functional. Do I wish that they were still saber ground instead of hallow, Yes. A hallow grind is cheaper to make and not as strong. Buck have successfully been doing it forever on their "hunting" knives; different steel and heat treat. I paid less than $40! I bought 2. They are both flawless; edge; grind angle; sheath. I re-profiled the edge to 20 degrees per side. I wrap the handle in black hockey tape because Cold Steel rubber grips will, for sure, chew on your bare hands over time. Tape the stitched connection of the sheath from nylon to plastic. This is where the sheath will tear. I raise the belt loop up on the sheath to its highest point; re-install the Chicago screws, and tape around the sheath as well. Electrical tape first, then hockey tape for aesthetics on both "mods". This "system" is now bullet proof and last for decades just like my other SRK's. IT IS NOT A $300 BUSHCRAFT KNIFE! You beat on, or "test" the tip it may break - doh! Re-profile it!!! Yes it is a SRK (surival rescue knife) and it will work as such. But, what on Earth do you expect for $40 in today's market? ELMAX steal?!!!!!! I own most versions of this knife; Carbon V (US and Japan), San Mai, Aus 8 and cpm 3v. It is a great design. You can still get these versions online. The 3v version is about $160 or buy 4 of these!!!!! Get the Cold Steel GI Tanto for $20 and go beat the heck out of it. I re-profile the "Tanto" edge to a belly and re-sharpen. It is a great knife , but no where near the fit and finish of this. Spend ~$35 and get the Ontario SP-1; now 1075 steel?; cut the top rubber/Kraton thumb guard off, put it in a Black leather sheath (7" Kabar or OKC) for about $11; $46 total. Go ahead and try to break it; bend it, doubtful but maybe maybe; break it - NO? All knives can be destroyed through abuse! Glock 78 ~$30 from Poland on fleebay. Re-profile edge is a must for it to slice; indestructible. The 81 has a "saw" back. Go spend $120 and get an Esee 6 with lifetime guarantee; or, $300 for a Busse. Shoot, buy an Old Hickory 7" butcher knife- $16, Kabar or OKC leather sheath - $11; or the new 5" version for ~$20, put it in a Kabar 5 1/4" sheath. Hockey tape the handles with palm swell and you are good to go! I would not hesitate to recommend this knife, if it is what YOU like, at this price point. With the caveat that it is now hallow ground , so act accordingly.

Good Deal!
What I like about the SRK 6 is the Knife quality and that it arrived quickly and for me it's close to perfection, Blade is Sharp & knife really not that heavy and a solid deal. The sheath is not amazing but it works, it does lock in the sheath extra firm but you can semi secure with out pushing it in all the way, especially if you plan on removing repeatedly to finish your work, if the sheath was high quality I can bet the price would go up. Happy with my purchase.

Very Good knife, ok sheath.
Great knife. Lots of good hard use reviews. The steel is quite forgiving but will rust if neglected. It’s sharp out of the box and is easy to sharpen. The grind is ok (slight hollow) but would like it as it used to be as a sabre grind. The sheath is tight, but mine is due to a slight bend in it. If you bend it slightly back, knife goes in easier. Note sure if this is the secret to “secure-x” or not.;) If you can find an aftermarket one for less than the cost of the knife I suggest it but I am going to deal with the existing one it comes with as here in Canada there aren’t any cheap options I’ve seen. It’s secure that’s for sure.
