Was expecting a thickness like Corell. These are a little thicker and create the illusion of primitive or hand-thrown pottery by having a slightly dimpled surface. It's an ingenious design, which reflects light off a high glaze in a very-pottery-way instead of a modern- plastic-way.The blue colored set is every bit as rich a color as in the photo. We are very pleased with them! Now, if only melamine could go in the microwave!
