Really solid fan with a heavy metal base that protects it from being toppled. Which is important, because I knocked our previous fan over whilst trying to move it, and it fell apart when it hit the ground. This one is far more stable: assembly was easy, though care still has to be exercised. It looks attractive with the wood effect stand and blades, and even on the lowest setting it pumps out an impressive indoor blast. Good range on the "air-spread" setting, too. It's quite noisy in the bedroom at night so we've purchased small bedside fans and will keep this one in the lounge. To sum up yes, its a lot more expensive than the cheap, rather flimsy models at the budget end of the market, but money well spent, I reckon because it should last. Disappointed to note, however, that whilst the words "Russell Hobbs--a British icon since 1952" are emblazoned proudly on the box, the fan was in fact made in China.

Works great, looks great and easy to assemble. Cable is very short though. Plenty of power even on setting 1. Setting buttons easy to use and to get to.

I've bought a few fans over the year and not been satisfied - some were too loud, some were not powerful enough, some broke down fast, however this fan purchase has been the best one so far. The assembly instructions were easy to follow, it took less than 15 mins (if that even). The power of this fan is strong, it somehow feels like it is blowing cold air towards you even during a very hot day (something I found that other fan brands struggled with as they would generate warm air instead). As for noise, I would say despite the size of the fan, it is quieter than other fans I've had. Whilst it is not completely silent, it is soft enough that it just becomes gentle background noise. Best of all, it looks great too! The black finish and the wood effect makes the fan look high quality.

Best fan I have in my house, worth every penny. High powered but fairly quiet and the vintage look looks great in my house.

Sturdy & well made as you'd expect from the brand. I got the wood finish one, which in my opinion looks smart. Very easy to assemble, I had it up and working within 10 minutes. It moves a lot of air on the high setting, i.e. number 3. However it's noisy so if you want one to cool the bedroom whilst sleeping I wouldn't recommend it. For use in any other room it does an excellent job. I'm very happy with it; it cools my large living room nicely. I think the build quality and it's effectiveness justify the price tag.

Don’t often bother to review things, but after spending ages looking at cheap fans so glad I spent a bit more on this one. It’s really well made, easy to put together and extremely effective. All fans are noisy so not saying better or worse than any other, but this is a quality product.

Great fan, shipping from UK to Australia was fast. Looks great, quiet and good air flow. Has a standard UK plug.

When I was buying this product it was written in the description this fan comes with remote control. However when we opened the box there was no remote control with it. One of the main point of my decision to purchase this fan was Remote control. Hence a bit disappointed. However fan is good.

Excellent fan. Stylish. Easy to clean. Quality materials. Great span. Quiet and all round great purchase. No sign of mechanical problems even though I've ran it for practically days at a time. Best fan I've ever brought. The days of me buying those cheap white or gimmicky flashing light fans with all these functions, alarms etc you'll never use. I have brought do many of them only to have them conk out after a year if I'm lucky. So the extra money spent on this fan was completely worth it. 3 years I've had it and it still runs and looks brand new.

Ordered the item, did not specify it was a UK power plug. Can’t use the thing. Now have to go buy an adapter. Not good.
