Despite a couple of minor quibbles with this digital microscope, for the price of ยฃ27 I am both impressed and happy with my purchase (even though I now realise I need something a little more powerful) because this unit packs small but delivers hard. First, expectation levels should be set. It is just about possible to see an onion's cellular structures (not the cells but blocks of them) in a thin inter-membrane... but, you will not see cells in their individuality nor will you see 'sciencey' results at a true microscopic level. What this is is a digital, optical, 'jewellers loupe' style of scope. No different to a camera sensor really. Like your smartphone's camera in a self-contained scope/screen/battery housing -- is about the easiest way to describe how these work. As someone who is heavier-handed than I'd like to be because of dexterity issues, one of my quibbles is how much the stand can shake when I'm trying to get some close-up views. However, I do forgive this because of the price. We can't expect solid and stable at such a low price, in fairness, but we can DIY modify or adapt the stand if need be. Meanwhile, the scope and screen can be used freehand without the stand for scoping a circuit in situ before moving ahead with any repair. Magnification is three-fold, technically speaking. Firstly, how far from the object being examined the scope is on the stand. Secondly, there is an up/down rotatable, plastic, knob on the stand attachment which allows for some fine-tuning up and down to improve focus and image clarity. Thirdly, the silver dial just above the scope sensor for the more precise focus fine-tuning delivers the final image improvements. Images are outputted via the 4.3" IPS screen which displays a sharp enough image that you only really notice the pixels when looking at the screen through another camera. To the eye, the images appear sharp enough to work naturally. Which brings me to my next minor quibble... This quibble is only an issue if -- like me -- you want to effect a micro-soldering repair. I bought this scope because I want to attempt to repair some Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 glasses. To be successful, I need to be very precise with any trace repairs to the ribbon which requires a scope to view as I work. However, due to the nature of this scope, there is not very much room under the scope to work with tweezeers and soldering iron etc. Of course, this scope is not designed for this type of work as it is a coin or jewellery scope, primarily. And, yes, I do realise I need to spend more money for a 2k or 4k electronics scope really, but I figured this would help me at least try to repair the ribbon if I can separate the other half from insde the arm. Then the repair becomes more achievable (whilst still low probability of success). Therefore, I cannot really qualify this is a gripe, just a point to note for anyone attempting their first micro repairs. I have added a couple of images taken with my phone camera and directly from the scope (the torn rizla paper is there for contrast as I found it easier to focus on the ribbon tear). The reason for the milky appearance in one of them is because I did not realise there is a plastic lens cap, at first. As you can see, the image quality significantly improves when the cap is removed, haha! A note on the scope images, because of stand wobble, pressing the button to take the image caauses motion blur. I've added a short clip of video too. [The first images (phone) I took, I was just looking at some SMD components] For the price, I am impressed. I may need a more powerful electronics scope, but, even when I get one I'll come back to this for quick and easy scanning of a circuit because of its self-contained and easily handleable body.

OMGoodness, I've began to see things that I thougt were there, which in fact really weren't..with this..this is a miracle worker for my aging eyes.. Super handy!! Easy to use! I'm a coin collector and have tried many other items..like the glasses etc.. No torch to this though. I'm super happy. The price? โ ๏ธ Design? โ ๏ธ Functionality? โ ๏ธ Could use a little bit more weight it's super lightweight. Great value and quality for tge price. It gets the job done at least until you can upgrade. I highly recommend it..

This microscope works great and shows details on my coins that my hand held magnifier never showed. Definitely worth buying.
