This locket came without any template or instructions on inserting pictures. Are there instructions online?

There is a thin plastics piece inside to cover a photo. Gently poke that out with a toothpick and use that as your template.

Is the locket itself sterling silver?

Yes, the locket is sterling silver. Beautifully embossed. I got two of these lockets, both round. They are different sizes however. I believe this is the larger one. I like the size of the smaller one better at about 1" across. However, they are both well made.

Is chain length an option?

I don't remember that being an option. It has a nice long chain on it, though. I can get it over my head without opening the clasp.
