I bought the Sonos Roam 2 for its portability, and it's been a great choice. It’s lightweight, and easy to take anywhere. The sound quality is excellent for its size, with clear vocals and good balance. Setup was quick, and switching between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi is simple. Battery lasts about 10 hours—enough for a day out. Perfect for home and outdoor use, especially if you're already in the Sonos ecosystem.

This perfect for my use case. Dividing its time between the outdoor coffee table, the shelf in the shower and my bedside table, it’s an extremely portable, great sounding waterproof speaker. Unlike many of its rivals, it integrates into my Airplay list and can be easily combined with other speakers. I’ve heard reports it doesn’t get loud, it’s not bassy enough. I think given its size it does perfectly well. Up to medium loud volumes it’s composed and well balanced. Push it hard and of course things fall off after a point. Want something louder with more bass? You’re going to have to buy something bigger. For something so neat and portable, with the huge bonus of Airplay, this is the one.

I’ve used Bose SoundLink, JBL, Harman Kardon, Sony, and even B&O speakers, and the Roam 2 stands out. The treble, mids, and bass are perfectly balanced, though I did tweak the EQ to match my preferences. Once that was done, the sound was crystal clear, delivering every detail without distortion. Another impressive feature is Trueplay tuning, which adjusts the sound based on its environment. I tested this in echo-prone areas, and as soon as I enabled the mic, Trueplay kicked in, refining the audio for a richer experience. Even at max volume, there was no noticeable echo—something many speakers struggle with. Size Portability is definitely a focus, though it’s not quite as lightweight as I expected. That said, it’s compact enough to fit in a bag or even a large pocket. I’ve been considering getting the rugged case and hook accessories, which I imagine will make it even more convenient for outdoor adventures. The build quality is solid and durable, making it an ideal speaker to carry between rooms or take on the go. Charging Speed Sonos has switched to USB-C-to-USB-C charging, meaning you get faster charging speeds if you use a good adapter. It also supports wireless charging, which is a great feature—but here’s the catch. The official Sonos wireless charger costs £49, which I find quite steep. I’m debating whether to get a second-hand one, but I do feel like it’s a must-have for convenience. I typically use the Roam 2 throughout my workday, and the battery holds up well. However, if I forget to charge it overnight, it takes its sweet time booting up the next morning. This can be frustrating since I rely on Alexa for a lot of things as soon as I wake up. Value for Money At £179, the Roam 2 sits firmly in the premium portable speaker category. The sound quality and smart features justify the price, but I have to admit—I’m also tempted to try the B&O Beosound A1 for comparison. Why? Well, let’s talk about connectivity… Connectivity Aside from the usual: “The Roam 2 supports Bluetooth 5.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi, ensuring a stable and reliable connection. The new Bluetooth button makes pairing much simpler.” One of my main reasons for buying this speaker was Alexa integration. I have multiple smart devices at home and wanted something for upstairs to control my lights and chat with my wife downstairs using Drop In. Unfortunately, this is where things fell apart. Amazon doesn’t allow the Drop In feature on third-party Alexa devices, and while I can see why (Echo devices have multiple microphones, while the Roam 2 has only one), it’s still a letdown. On top of that, Alexa calling isn’t supported either, which is another disappointment. That said, it still works well for announcements, shopping lists, and general commands, and it responds quickly when called. Battery Life Sonos claims 10 hours of battery life, which is reasonable but not outstanding—especially considering some competing speakers last much longer. For casual daily use, it’s sufficient, but if you need something for extended outdoor trips, you might find yourself reaching for a charger more often than you’d like. Final Verdict The Sonos Roam 2 is a fantastically designed, high-performance speaker that’s easy to carry around and delivers excellent sound. If you want top-tier audio, seamless integration with Sonos products, and great build quality, this is a solid investment. However, if battery life or Alexa Drop In functionality is a priority, you might want to explore other options. Would I buy it again? Absolutely—but I’d also keep an eye on other premium alternatives. 😉

We bought this to use as a shower speaker that could also be taken with us on travels. In the past we have had various Bluetooth speakers (one even had Alexa built in but an update removed it much to my annoyance) which have worked well in the shower but found it sometimes a bit frustrating that you put a playlist on and you would maybe change your mind or a song came to mind you wanted to hear. Or you suddenly remembered something to add to your shopping list. So with those you would have to wait until you got out the shower. First world problems I know, but a solution seemed to exist with an alexa enabled waterproof speaker. already having a few sonos speakers in our house I have been impressed with the sound quality of those so figured this should be pretty good. I am not an audiophile so wont ramble on about highs, lows and sound stages, but will say to my uncultured ear, it sounds good to me! I wanted to write a review for anyone who has read anything about issues setting this up. The speaker came with slightly less than 50% charge, so I unpacked it and turned it on and started following the guide that is supplied. When told to, I opened the Sonos app on my android phone and there was a message there about setting up the roam 2. Easy peasy! I just followed the guidance in the app and got it set up (including firmware update it took around 5 mins all in, with no need to add WiFi password or anything like that. All done automatically!) It doesn't set Sonos voice or Alexa control as part of the set up process but I went into settings for the roam2 in the app and there was an easy to see button for adding either of those 2 voice assistants. I selected Alexa and it prompted me to sign into my amazon account. This is where things took a turn for the worse. No matter what I did it would not go beyond asking to set up amazon account. I just kept getting a spinning wheel. Frustrated, I went online and searched and found a long thread on the Sonos forums about this very issue. The fix (at this time) seemed to be to delete the amazon shopping app from my phone, then add the Alexa to sonos roam2 then reinstall amazon app. I couldn't be bothered with that so I opened my work iPhone and very easily set alexa on the roam2 from that. There were no issues signing into Amazon account via the iPhone app. Seems its an issue with android phones and not iPhone. So if you have access to an iPhone I would go down that route to set up Alexa. Otherwise you might need to delete your amazon app first. Anyhoooo, I got it all set up after that very easily, and Alexa is working well Another downside is that there is no wall plug for the speaker to charge it. just a cable. I plugged it into my bedside charger and checked the app to see if it was charging OK. The app said it was an incompatible charger and to change it. That being said it did charge up fully! But I went on the Sonos website to see what plug they recommend and they state any 5v 2a 10W plug (including Qi wireless pads) or their own wireless charger. Which looks neat and is magnetic, but pretty steep at near £50! I guess there's a convenience of just sitting it on the charger without having to plug anything in. But the charge port on the speaker is USB C and is easily accessible to plug a cable in (unlike ultimate ears speakers I have where teh charge port is very recessed under a rubber seal, so you need a specific cable to fitinto the recess and plug in. There is no real issue to plug in rather than wireless with the sonos roam. I decided to buy a sub £10 plug instead. I may buy the sonos official wireless charger at some point if I find charging to be a pain and I am feeling flush with cash! Anyway, all in all I am happy with my purchase. Yes, there are cheaper shower speakers that may or may not sound as good. But I really wanted the alexa integration, and that works well (after finally getting it set up!) There may be other Alexa enabled shower speakers, but having had one before and losing that capability after a few short months (thanks a bunch Ultimate Ears!!) I decided to go with the brand I already know and trust The fact it is part of sonos ecosystem so it can be grouped with the other sonos is neat, but probably not something I will us often.

Great sound, compact, very portable can be used all over home and garden. Quality instrument. Easy set up. I have other sonos speakers and easy to add to system. However it is is also easy to set up if you only have this speaker. It has the ability to automatically alter settings for the best sound each time you move it to different room / area. Has excellent battery life 10 hrs and recharges rapidly. It may appear to be a little pricey for the size of speaker however it is a quality speaker.

Sounds great, long range on Bluetooth, compact and pretty. Exactly as I'd hoped!

Bardzo ładny, estetyczny i niewielkich rozmiarów. Dobry do małych i mokrych pomieszczeń jak łazienka czy kuchnia. Niestety dźwięk kiepski, o wiele lepiej brzmi o połowę tańszy Soundcore Motion 300. Niestety z WiFi nie da się kupić nic innego podobnej wielkości.
