Easy clean up for brooders
These brooder pads are thinner than I thought they would be and the paper on the underside is krinkly and noisy so my skittish hens don’t like them. I’ll still use them for my baby chicks in the brooder as they are easy to roll up and throw away after cleaning up after my chicks.

Easy cleanup
Chickens didn’t like these as they got older. Worked great for when they were chicks. They prefer the pine shavings as they got older.

So yes it doesn’t get everywhere like bedding. But it’s very hard and thin. I was shocked 25 were in this pack honestly.

Fantastic alternative to loose shavings, good for chick footing
This is my first time trying these, I’ve always used pine shavings in the past. They were great for newly hatched chicks, much more stable footing than shavings or paper towel. They didn’t smell bad, and although they shed a little of the surface material it’s not bad. The mats are on a brown paper base layer and they will get damp within a day or two depending on how many chicks…easiest way I found was to line the brooder box with a disposeabke puppy pee pad, then these over it. When it’s time to change, I just rolled up the puppy pad with all the chicken dropping pads inside. Would definitely use again next hatching season. Note…don’t use these with ducklings. They don’t work with webbed feet, and get saturated quickly. Chickens, turkeys, peafowl? All great.

Absolute waste of money.
These are absolute trash - extremely thin with barely any material attached to each. What’s worse is that what little material begins on there doesn’t stay on there as you try and remove the item from the package and put it in your brooder/coop - they shed immediately and insanely! I don’t understand how people are saying these are easier and cleaner than puppy pads for chicks - no way. As for using them as nesting pads? Absolutely not. My chickens would be better to lay on a sheet of two ply paper towel.
