It is a very thin coating, so if applied per directions should not block fine detail.

If you are referring to pouring cement into a silicone rubber mold? If that is the case it should work.

Do i need this instead of a can of regular silicone spray for casting plaster in an rtv mold?

When you work with plaster , the best release agent - mix Vaseline with a few drops of Naphtha .

does this work well with melamine molds?

Works great, needs to be shaken and I’ve noticed that results are better when can is being held vertically as material comes out a bit thicker and gives a better coat

Great for silicone molding. Very easy to use. Highly functional, never had issues with molds getting stuck. Very little mold release is needed to prevent sticking providing a great value. The 14 ounce size is perfect. It seems like it lasts forever. Would buy again.

This seems to be a good quality product that does what it is supposed to do. Not the most expensive mold release but not the cheapest either. Easy to use. The only negative is the smell but all of the ones I have been exposed to don't smell particularly good.
