Firm comfort.
At 90 lbs. the 14" mattress was a handful to move through the house to my bedroom even while boxed.Once I had gotten it up on the bed and removed the plastic outer wrap, I watched as it unrolled itself into a flat 80"x60" compressed mattress. I snipped one end of the inner plastic vacuum bag and pulled the cover off as fast as I could because the mattress began expanding immediately. It was amazing how rapidly the mattress expanded to a full 14" from a 5" pancake.I gave it 5 minutes to expand and jumped right on to test it out.It was everything I'd hoped it would be. I'd call it 7 out of 10 on firmness, support was smooth and even from edge to edge and top to bottom. The hybrid configuration was just what I was looking for and my first night's sleep was perfect. I sleep mainly on my back and this was the perfect choice.I did try sleeping on my side and while it felt somewhat firmer than I'm accustomed to, it was perfectly acceptable. I'm looking forward to many more nights of restful sleep.Of course there's no "free lunch", and I had to buy several new sheets with deeper 14" pockets to replace my current sheets that were made for my old 10 inch mattress. The price was less than a third of what I was anticipating for a first rate mattress, but I now believe that Brooklyn Bedding has managed to produce a top notch product, made in America, that is as good as any of the the larger brands without sacrificing quality.

Crazy good mattress Insanely good at this price.
My wife and I have a split king adjustable bed, and my mattress went bad. Her's was still good, so I was looking for just a cheap temporary mattress to keep me going until we bought a whole new bed. I saw this Brooklyn Bedding mattress for under $250. It had good reviews, but I was hesitant with all the bogus reviews out there, and iffy on the bed-in-a-box concept. I took a chance, and holy cow am I glad I did. This mattress is awesome. I wish I had replaced my Sleep Number mattress a long time ago. Now... people's opinions on mattresses are going to vary wildly based on their preferences, health, body shape, size, weight...so I can only speak for myself. I am 6'5" 280 pounds, fairly lean and have a bad spine. I'm a side sleeper that also sleeps on their back about 30 to 40% of the time. This mattress is extremely well built, popped up perfectly when opened and had little, if any, smell. I've never thought of mattresses as being attractive or ugly, but this one falls into the attractive category. It has a soft plush top you sink into, but the coils are firm and support well. It was really comfortable to lay in at night, but I was a little sore after my first night's sleep, so I wasn't sure. After my second night and every night thereafter, this mattress is pure bliss. This went from being a temporary stop-gap cheap mattress to my mattress of choice. In fact, we're going to replace my wife's remaining sleep number with a Brooklyn. The only downside is I was sent a regular twin instead of a twin XL, but Brooklyn Bedding (3Z) is taking care of that and sending me out the proper one free of charge. For what it's worth, I read into the company and they seem fantastic as well. The mattresses are all produced in-house in Arizona and have top notch materials. Overall I highly recommend this mattress, and for the price, I don't believe anything comes remotely close to being this good.

Very comfortable but dimensions/size of mattress smaller than advertised
I spent a lot of time researching mattresses and decided on the full size Brooklyn Bedding Select 14โ Gel Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress. I was impressed by the positive reviews and the reasonable price point (under $1,000), which is rare for quality mattresses. However, when the mattress arrived, I immediately noticed it didnโt fit properly in my full-size bed frame. Curious, I measured the mattress and found that its actual dimensions were smaller than advertised. While the product description lists the dimensions as 75โL x 54โW x 14โH, the mattress I received measures approximately:โข Length: Just under 74 inchesโข Width: Around 53 inchesโข Height: Slightly less than 13.5 inchesThis discrepancy of about an inch in all directions makes a difference, especially if youโre pairing it with a frame or bedding that requires precise sizing. That said, the mattress is incredibly comfortable. As the first mattress-in-a-box Iโve purchased, I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to set up, and Iโve been sleeping well since. The firmness is perfect for my needs, and it provides great support. While Iโm happy with the quality and comfort, the sizing issue was disappointing. Had I known the mattress would be smaller than standard full-size dimensions, I would have ordered the queen size instead. If precise measurements are important to you, keep this in mind before purchasing.

This is a great mattress.
After 12 years, our Sleep Number mattress was toast. We looked at a lot of hybrid mattresses, most ranging over 1200 for our size bed. When I saw this one for under 400 (Black Friday deal) I was skeptical. However, seeing that it was made in the USA instead of one of the imports that are also in that price range, I decided to roll the dice and got the 14". I'm not really sure where the complaints of this mattress being too firm are coming from. I have joint disease and muscular dystrophy, and if this mattress was super firm, I wouldn't have been very comfortable. It's really comfortable. I added a gel foam topper to it as I need it to help with what ails me, but we slept on this mattress without it for a while before the topper arrived, and it was still great. The 14" mattress IS REALLY 14". My bed is heckin' tall now, which I like. It makes it easier to get up in the morning as I don't have to fight my way up. I can't imagine one of the $1200 mattresses being any better, honestly. And, even if this one were only to last 5 years and we had to replace it, we'd still be way ahead of buying one of the more expensive beds that has an average life expectancy of 10 years at best. This mattress is well made, looks nice, and there was NO weird smell that I see mentioned on most of the imported mattresses. It fluffed up FAST upon opening the package as it'd come directly from the manufacturer and hadn't been left compressed in a bag for months on end. I would happily buy another or recommend it.

First time bed in a box mattress purchase.
Bought this for our off-grid camp deep in the woods for the simple fact I wouldn't be able to get someone to deliver down the 2 1/2-mile rutted dirt road. Or that they would make it in a truck. Delivered to friends nearby we picked it up. Just like some other reviews, the box was a little beat up, but it is very heavy. Much sympathy for the delivery guy. It's sealed in plastic, so it really doesn't affect the product. We let it rise 24 hours. amazing how the how thing expanded to almost full size immediately. We thought since we only spend at most a week at camp at a time this would be fine. So we were not expecting one of the most comfortable mattresses I have ever slept on. A few days later I realized my back wasn't hurting, or my shoulder. There was some movement the first couple of days when my husband shifted, but that seems to have worked itself out. So impressed I've ordered 2 twin size bed in box mattresses for camp and a much more expensive model for home. The only downside I can see is there is no one to remove the old mattress. My husband had to take to the dump and pay. There was absolutely no off gassing. I got the 14 inch and my regular size queen sheets fit great. I still can't believe we got such a comfortable mattress for the price. I would buy again, would recomend to friends.

NO DIP!
We are large, heavy people who often sit in the middle or on the edge of the bed to read, play games, watch TV, get dressed, etc. As a result, we usually get a dip in our mattress within the first couple months of use. This mattress is the exact firmness we wanted/selected and sleeps very well. After nearly 9 months of constant use, we do NOT have the dip in the middle that we normally get! The cover on the mattress is looser than it was but the shape is still great. Huzzah! We do flip the mattress monthly, as explained in the manufacturer's instructions for care. The edges are still firm and in their original shape (no dip their either). The mattress isn't particularly heavy but it is quite thick so we did have to purchase sheets that are deep pocket and have an elastic strap to keep the fitted sheet secured. I understand the warranty on this mattress is excellent but we haven't needed to investigate that as we have had no issues. At the time of purchase, I actually bought two of these mattresses and am absolutely satisfied with both.

On the firmer side of "medium firm" and it's a trampoline......
We received the mattress we bought to replace a 10yr old Tempurpedic Rhapsody. After reading the reviews and seeing that some smaller side sleepers enjoyed this I was optimistic as my smaller sized wife is a side sleeper while I'm a back sleeper. We're only a week into this so this review could be premature but this is NOT a "softer" mattress than described. If anything I'd say it is firmer than expected. My wife is already complaining of shoulder pain and head pain with this mattress. It's stiff and while I have walked on it, jumped on it, and even hit it with a blow dryer while doing this things, it's not giving up the goose on her side.I'm a big back sleeper. The mattress is likely fine for me long term outside of my next sentence. This specific mattress has a HIGH level of motion transfer. Every little movement by my wife in the bed is felt on my side and vice versa. This is a dramatic change from our tempurpedic product (despite it being worn out). I realize that foam vs hybrid is going to be different but didn't expect this. Maybe all hybrids are trampolines, I don't know, but when I rotate on my side she literally bounces up.As I said, we're a week into this and we're dedicated to give this bed the time it deserves but between the firmness and the sheer lack of motion isolation it's likely we'll not end up keeping it. Time will tell.UPDATE:We slept on this for a bit more than 30 days but elected to return it. Brittney (the cust. service agent) was VERY helpful on this and assisted us in getting the bed donated with proof for a refund. I'm sad we didn't make it work as she was so helpful. I'm sure some of their higher tier products are likely very good and honestly, for a back sleeper who sleeps alone this mattress would work great IMO. It's just not for my wife and I.

Brooklyn Select Hybrid 14 Inch
Wow, what a value! After doing some research for a memory foam mattress, I learned that heat retention was a consistent problem that has been improved by the hybrid design. I wanted a medium firm mattress that was made in USA, and I wanted to avoid the expensive bigger name brands. Brooklyn Bedding (BB) has a huge production plant in Arizona that makes BB, as well as Helix, Leesa, Bear, Nolan, and Birch. Brooklynbedding.com does not carry the BB Select, and their models are far more expensive than the 14 inch Select hybrid offered on Amazon. However, the Select is made at the same facility in Arizona that I expect use many of the same materials. So how does this mattress feel? It is cool to the touch and has what is described as a medium firm feel. I agree with the description. It is more firm than a medium. Initially, it feels soft when you lay on it, but then you feel the support of the coils. I weigh 195 and sleep mostly on my side and back. I do not sink far into the mattress as others have said, and the mattress produced no off gassing. If you are looking for an affordable, well made mattress produced in America, you may want to consider the BB Select.
