Easy Install — Durable & Solid — Follow Safety and Bleed Properly
⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: DO NOT OPEN THE RADIATOR OR COOLING SYSTEM WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT. The system is pressurized and can cause serious burns. Always allow the engine to cool completely before opening the radiator cap or bleeder screw. I installed this thermostat housing on my 2013 Dodge Durango 3.6L V6 Pentastar, and the installation itself was very straightforward. The part fit correctly, lined up perfectly, and bolted down without any issues. Right out of the box, the housing felt solid and well-built. The materials feel sturdy and durable — not flimsy like some aftermarket parts. It appears to be better designed than the previous unit I installed from a different manufacturer that eventually failed. This one gives confidence in long-term durability under normal operating temperature and pressure. The most important part of this job isn’t just installing it — it’s properly bleeding the cooling system afterward. The Pentastar uses a mostly closed cooling system and should not have any air pockets. If you don’t fully bleed the system, you can experience temperature spikes, poor heater performance, or overheating even with a brand-new thermostat installed. Here’s the procedure that worked for me: Open the bleeder screw on the thermostat housing. Fill the radiator until coolant flows steadily out of the bleeder with no air bubbles. Close the bleeder screw. Start the engine and let it run for about 10 seconds so the water pump can begin circulating coolant. Shut it off and top off the radiator as needed. Start it again and allow the engine to warm up fully (heater on high) so the thermostat opens. Continue monitoring and topping off until no more air works its way out. Be patient — removing all of the air is critical on this engine. For reference, I installed this long after my factory warranty had expired. Overall, this was an easy DIY job as long as you take your time bleeding the system correctly and follow proper safety precautions. Durable, solid construction, and it performs exactly as it should. Five stars from me.

It fit great on 2014 jeep wrangler. So far so great!
2014 jeep wrangler has had numerous issues with the plastic thermostat. This aluminum has worked great so far and was pretty easy to replace.

perfect fit, all aluminum, much better than the plastic POS that Jeep installs from the factory.

Better than factory
Worked well on a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. Should’ve bought it sooner better than factory.

Works well. (only at first) UPDATE
It threw a P0128 error code after 3 months. It must be sticking open & causing the engine to take too long to reach temperature. ORIGINAL REVIEW: It seems to run a little cooler than the OEM thermostat, but the check engine light is now out. I got this because our Jeep threw an engine code that was likely the thermostat sticking open. This thermostat fixed the engine code. It does seem to run between 185 & 195 F, As I recall this is cooler than the original when it was working.

Worth It, But...
Is this worth the buy? Yes, value-wise. Is it really an 'upgrade'? Not really. The OE-style plastic housing is fine. And both plastic or aluminum housing are going to outlast the vehicle honestly. Really the only weak points here are the gasket and thermostat. This is the second housing Ive purchased and the cheap thermostat is what typically goes out on these. Thats my only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Thankfully, for a Dodge 3.6, these are really simply to replace and you can do it in about 30 minutes with simple tools.
