Hamilton Beach Portable Blender for Smoothies With 14 oz. Travel Jar

I looooove this thing! I have gastric issues and have to be very careful with what I eat. At this point people remember my dependable on protein shakes. I've got the shake bottles but my neighbor gave me one of these and It changed the game. Of course it's not perfect at blending frozen fruit but what do you expect from such an affordable and small appliance. I started blending everything in it! From coffee and creamer to make it foamy to shakes to my nightly banana shake and morning coffee and protein shake. I can even tailor what I blend for myself and put powder from empty capsules for sleep aid. I don't know what I'd to without it. Hers had some wear and tear and at one point I put the lid on one of the stove burners and it melted. I could have still used it just flipped the top but I wanted my own. I searched and this was the best price point and Hamilton is a great brand and bought my own, keeping the old one in case something happens I'll have back up parts but it's fantastic! I rarely write a review but this is a must have especially if you're the only one using it. A big blender would need more cleaning and this doubles as a cup to drink out of. I use it on average 3times a day and bought this one about 5 months ago and it's still holding up well! I'd buy it again. Heck if buy it for my friends. I'm soooooo happy with this purchase. I think it's time to throw out all those nasty shake gathering dust under my sink. So it's super easy to use has adequate blending power and I'd imagine anyone with physical restrictions finding those shake bottles difficult to use and maintain to use this! To clean usually I just run it under hot water for a little bit and bam ready for the next thing. Sooo easy to clean use and helps your health and we all could use a little boost because the path to being your best self begins within.

So I picked up this little guy to replace the one I had before, right? I've been on this whole health kick thing lately. You know, the smoothies with the fruit, the protein, the chia seeds, all that good-for-you stuff. Here’s what I like: It’s small and doesn't hog up the counter like some big clunky thing. Holds just under 14 ounces, which is perfect for a quick shake. One button. That’s it. No nonsense. The lid snaps on nicely and doesn’t leak all over the joint. And cleanup? Super easy. Now, the not-so-great stuff: You gotta watch the fruit size. You throw in big frozen chunks of mangos, whatever it ain’t gonna break ‘em down too good. And listen, if you don’t add enough liquid up to that minimum fill line, those powders? They clump up like cement; they stick to the sides ah no good. But the bottom line? I’m happy with it. Works good, does what it’s supposed to.

The size is just right for a person's milkshake and has a wide range of uses. I use it almost every day. The power is very high when it is used. As long as you don't put too much frozen fruit, it can be broken quickly, and the noise is within the normal range. It's very convenient to clean. Just put it in the dishwasher. The only drawback is that the cup is easy to scratch.

So I use this to make dog treats. I blend up my ingredients and pour into freezer molds. Since I got this blender I have easily made at least 20 batches of treats in varying quantities, and it has done excellently. The hardest thing thats gone in has been frozen blue berries, im not sure how ice would do but I can't imagine it would be a problem. It's quiet, efficient, and one "full" container is a perfect portion for what I need. You do definitely have to pay attention to the minimum liquid line otherwise it won't do much, but even if you're a little over the top line it still blends everything very thoroughly. It's easy to clean if you don't use super thick ingredients. My only problems with it are really to be expected for a $20 blender. The blade is built in to the cup, so depending on what you blend it might be hard to clean. The lid can also be a pain to pry off at first but as I've used it I've gotten used to the amount of force you put behind it. Even if it kicked the bucket tomorrow I have definitely got my money's worth and I will probably pick up another one if/when this one goes out.

First, I have been using Hamilton Beach Mini Blenders for about FIFTEEN YEARS. I have tried different models, they're all mini blenders, but some are a bit better than others. THIS is my fav (and I liked when you could easily and cheaply get one with TWO cups). THIS one, to me, is better than the "upgraded" one. PROS: CONVENIENCE - I had a large blender, hated using it to just whip up a smoothie for me. This size is not only great, I drink from the cup, easy to clean and doesn't take up storage or counter space. BLENDING - OK, if you need a POWERFUL blender that you can put lots of big frozen chunks of fruit in, GET A POWERFUL blender! This is NOT a food processor or even a big powerful blender. Great for smoothies and will blend some frozen fruit if not too much and it's SMALL. I use protein powder, almond milk, spirulina and FROZEN wild blueberries or frozen dark cherries and have NO problem. BUT I'm also just using about a half cup of frozen fruit and LEAVE ROOM so the blender isn't too full, you need to leave about an inch and a half at the top. ALSO AND THIS IS HUGE FOR ME.... the blender motor may sound like it's just getting stuck, TAKE THE CUP OFF, HOLD THE LID DOWN TIGHTLY AND GIVE IT A COUPLE SHAKES, TAKES SECONDS! THEN put back on and PULSE, taking finger on and off power button. VOILA. IT REALLY ISN'T THAT HARD. PRICE - FOR THE PRICE I FIND HAMILTON BEACH HARD TO BEAT. Is it meant to last forever? NO. At this price, would you expect it to? I use a blender often, having been using Hamilton Beach mini blenders for about 15 years. I replace them as needed and, at THIS price, I keep two around at all times, in case one eventually gives out. CAVEAT: OK THE CUP GETS PITTED after awhile. EVEN if the motor is going STRONG, after awhile, you will want to replace the cup. I find it easier just to get another blender OR get the blender that has TWO CUPS, which also comes in handy if you're making a smoothie for yourself and one for someone else.

When my battery powered mixer died after a couple of years of travel, I decided to find something a little more robust. This seemed to fit the bill. It’s a bit more powerful, making it easier to mix my breakfast shakes at my hotel. On the first trip, I noticed that I had to hold a napkin or towel on top in order to keep it from leaking. It was a minor inconvenience for a better mix. On one of my trips home, Air Canada decided that the mixing blades were “a danger” and confiscated the container. (This, after traveling with it on a few domestic flights without issue, but that’s another story.) So, when I returned home, I researched ordering a replacement cup from Hamilton Beach. If you included shipping in the purchase, I could purchase two more of the same blender from Amazon. Instead, I bought another identical unit that also included two mixing cups. I though this was great since my wife and I now both had our own motor unit and container/cup. The leaking problem during mixing persisted, but I said, it was a minor inconvenience - until suddenly, it wasn’t. The leaking became worse. That’s when I discovered that the soft plastic cover had a small crack/tear where it met with the top of the cup. All three covers had the same problem. My theory is that my compensating for the leaking cover with my hand may have caused the tear. Given that I was only holding a paper towel over the top with very little pressue, I was unhappy, to say the least. I could no longer drink out of the container with the cover on, because it would leak. This, too, was a minor inconvenience that I’ve dealt with. Finally a few days ago, things went from being a minor inconvenience to a bona fide, “capital I” Inconvenience. After washing one of the containers, I discovered a crack, starting at the bottom and moving about a third of the way up. The crack caused the blade mechanism to come loose, making it completely unusable. It’s now in the recycling bin. I’m down to one mixing container and two motor units. I’m going to recycle the whole thing and get a Nutribullet or something, which is what my friends recommended in the first place. Bottom Line: This blender is poorly made. You’re better off spending a bit more money on something of higher quality.

I am getting myself the third one, within ~four years. First from 2012.12, second one 2015.06. Now it's 2017.02. Both time, got burnt motor after frequent/daily usage. First time, the plastic bottle also cracked and started a little leaking. I was pissed off that the motor on my second one burnt off again, lasting even shorter than the first one. But to be fair, I do use it almost every single morning for my green thickie. This Hamilton is definitely not the most powerful. By only crushing small ice-cubes and careful pulse motion with plenty liquid, handled by a very experienced user, the motor burns out every two years or so. Yet I keep coming back. Because it's cheap, does the job, easy to use and to clean. I've tried other two popular blenders from Amazon in the past (Ninja and Epica I believe), but no. At least for my purpose of making green thickie and occasional almond milk, this cheapest Hamilton Beach simply beats all the other cheap blenders so far. I like the design, large mouth for easy pouring-in of oats, liquid. It stands up instead of upside down which makes adding more greens or liquids while operating easier. Once I got the hang of it, it actually never spills, and only takes a rinse to clean. It's part of the reason my breakfast-in-a-rush stays the same thing for almost four years... It does have a burnt-chemical smell, especially when it's new. Mines don't have the smell anymore after several days usage. It does still smell if I venture to press it on hard ice or frozen fruit for too long (which I don't do very often, even though I do love banana-icecream. I can still make them but do have to remember to leave the frozen bananas out for 10min or so before crushing them, and even then, I need to be very patient). In hind sight, I could've gotten those three-year warranty back at the first purchase, probably saves some bucks. But what can I complain?! With $15*2 it has served me four years. That probably amounts to a thousand times usage! One star off for the burnt-chemical smell which I always somehow associate with potential cause of cancer, another for the very weak motor and the plastic build. But I do love it. Wonder how long the third one will last me. I really hope the company is not going further cheaper on the motor quality. That's a long hell of a review

Esta licuadora portátil la compré para cuando esté de viaje, necesite tomar mi proteína y no tenga que depender de alguien que me la prepare. Solo me preocupo por comprar o cargar los ingredientes. Es muy ligera, capacidad suficiente para un vaso grande. El motor lo llevo en la maleta de mano y el vaso con las aspas en la maleta documentada. De lo contrario, no la dejarán pasar en inspección de seguridad. El líquido queda suficientemente molido, sólo asegúrate de cortar en pedazos pequeños los ingredientes grandes o más duros.

Es fácil de usar, solo es presionar el único botón que tiene, lo utilizo para mezclar la proteína en polvo, le agrego leche avena y miel y lo hace bastante bien y rápido ,no deja grumos. No es licuar cosas pesadas solo cosas sencillas
