Thirstystone Natural Sandstone Coaster with Protective Cork Backing 4 Pack Eco-Friendly, Absorbent, Easily Wipes Clean

We just bought new living room furniture, and we don't want them to get ruined by water rings. We knew we needed coasters that: (1) collect all the condensation from frosty glasses, (2) look cool, and (3) would not become a snack for our mischievous dog who ate our last coasters. These coasters met all of our requirements. These coasters are nice and heavy and easy to clean (if necessary). They are backed with a piece of cork to keep them from scratching your furniture. The cork piece does not go all the way to the edges, which I prefer because you can't see the cork, but it does make it possible for you to scratch your furniture if you don't handle the coasters correctly. Thirstystone has a huge selection of coasters, but I liked these because they are the only truly natural coasters they sell. The others all have images or stone markings printed onto the plain sandstone coasters. The image shown for this product makes it look like it has uniform speckles across the surface of the stone, but the plain natural sandstone coasters have natural variations in their markings and colors. This makes each one unique. Here are the care instructions that come with the product: * Coasters may need occasional cleaning. * Rinse in cool, clear water and allow to air dry. * You can use a mild detergent on old or stubborn stains - rinse - air dry. * Do not use a dishwasher to clean - extreme heat and abrasion will cause the cork backing to deteriorate.

Great little coasters. They absorb water instantly and hold it. I use mine every single day.

These coasters are a little pricier than your usual coaster but these are by far the best coasters I've ever bought. They are super absorbent and condensation never leaks. Glasses don't slide on them and they dry pretty quickly. It's a very minimalist look but fits in great with any surface.

I had some of these years ago that were from Luxor In Las Vegas, NV and I loved them. Those had no cork underneath and scratched my tables to no end. These are exactly as they are advertised. I have them on my bedside tables and in my family room. The cork on the underside is absolutely what is needed to make these the perfect coaster. It is very thirsty and it does not get so absorbed that it becomes saturated. That is what can be very frustrating for using a coaster for an extended period of time, say for a party. When I have used them while watching a movie and I have a drink that sweats A LOT, rest assured that the Thirstystone will not become this soggy, drippy mess that eventually will leak onto your furniture. I also sleep with ice water at my bedside. In the morning the ice has melted and the glass has sweated but Thirstystone does not let that leak on your surfaces to ruin them.

To me, it's strangely absorbent. I never really thought of a rock absorbing water, but that is in fact, what it does. More than enough to pick up the condensation from the cold beverage in the cup! Overall the feel is weighty, it just feels like it's quality. The color is as pictured, which is nice. The one thing that's a little off putting, and the reason for the -1 star is that there's a printed logo/label on the cork part of the coaster, the part that comes into contact with the desk/table. I use these in an office setting with a white desk that's made up of a white, slightly textured material. The issue is that the printed part wears off on the desk leaving a little black trail as the coaster is dragged across the desk, which sort of defeats the purpose of a coaster. The ink does come off after a quick wipe, but just an FYI. I'm thinking as time goes on, it'll get better, so I'm keeping the coasters.

These are an "investment" in saving your furniture. These spendy little round-shaped PLAIN STONE Sandstone Thirstystone Coasters work VERY WELL. I have spent a lot on similar but not quite the same coasters that end up going to the thrift store. I bought a set of four, then bought four more and now have bought more are gifts. Yes, they are not inexpensive, BUT They really do soak up a lot of moisture. In summer months these things get swapped out for new ones as they get full and you see they are wet, but they dry rather quickly. Never thought I'd write a review about coasters, BUT these REALLY WORK WELL! Recommend highly!

Sometimes it's the little things in life that make a difference, such as having the right coasters that actually absorb water and thereby protect your furniture. I live in Florida, and if I have a glass with ice it will invariably produce water outside of the glass. I have marble and teak furniture, both of which are sealed but I still don't want to take a chance on water spots. This little coaster absorbs the water inside of the stone before it gets anywhere near the cork bottom. Also, the coasters all looks nice. A great overall product!

Our previous Thirstystone coasters lasted for about 30 years but one of them finally became stained so we decided to buy some new ones. They arrived in perfect shape, although the Thirstystone box was quite damaged (the shipping box was in perfect condition). In terms of absorbing liquid, they work just as well as their predecessors. To reduce confusion, these are sandstone material and sandstone color, not multicolor. Amazon has grouped two different coaster colors in the same webpage which is not a problem; however, Amazon then calls the sandstone coloured coasters multicolor, which they are not.
