How tight should this be? does it break in and loosen up a little. I measured 22" and ordered S/M.

It should fit fairly tight; keep in mind, both hair and sweat will it some slip. However, you actually do not want it too loose because then the helmet is vulnerable to not adding the protection it should. At the skatepark, I seen a guy fall but his helmet was not strapped on, and when he hit the ground, it came off. Now, if it’s causing you pain or frequent headaches, then you should go up a size.

Very durable helmet - I would estimate at least 2-3yrs depending on falls/crashes. Bought this for my son who uses it almost daily now.
