Good quality hard wired combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors with clear voice alarms. 10 year battery backup eliminates yearly 9 volt battery changes. Fairly easy to install. Existing house hard wire connection plugs did not match, so needed to rewire house connection for each detector with included new plugs. May require an electrician if you are not comfortable working with electrical wiring.

Bought these to replace my original 10 year old Kidde detectors. Needed 5 of them. Got this 3 pack and then ordered the 2 pack. 1 was defective and had to return it and re-purchase a single one. You can't just return and send another unit. The replacement worked and we are good to go. Not an inexpensive venture when you need to replace 5 of them. The originals had a pre-determined lifespan of 10 years and started peeping continuously until you removed them and replaced.

Bought 4 to replace 10 year old Kidde Smoke detectors in our cabin. I'd read the reviews and also purchased the optional wire adaptors figuring I'd rather have them than wish I did. The detectors fit the existing mounting rings and the adaptor slid right on both the new unit and into the cabin wiring. This let me hook up the new detectors quickly and without a single cuss word! Each unit was tested, gave the requisite alarm and voice warnings, and now are doing their job without a chirp or false alert. Well worth the extra $$ to have the built-in10 year battery so we won't have to replace batteries in a few years. I checked the manufacture date to be sure these were new units and marked each new detector with the date of installation. We'll see if the 10 year promise is true but so far, so good!

I got these to replace expired 10 year old Kidde hardwired/battery alarms which had started chirping at random hours. The manufacture date on these new ones was only 6 months old. The alarms came in brown boxes (not the original looking Kidde boxes you see on the web site) with a Kidde label, wiring harness, alarm with base plate,a red dust cover, instructions, but no mounting screws. The first alarm I screwed together , it activated with a chirp, but then I could not unscrew it to make a wire harness adjustment. This would have been a disaster had it been firmly attached to the ceiling. I thought this might be a one off. The second unit, I could not get it to screw to the base. The battery screw on this second unit was pointing towards the on position out of the box, but pushing the test button did not elicit a beep or voice message. I opened a third unit and it did not screw easily onto the base and I decided to return them. There appeared to be some superficial damage in the center of the label on two of the units. I could not figure out why these units would not unscrew from the base or screw onto the base. The existing old Kidde alarms in my house easily unscrewed from the base. The old base can not be reused; it is the same diameter, but different structurally from the new base. I will probably try to find the new alarm in the original Kidde packaging-other reviewers here are not reporting this problem. By the way, separately I recently reviewed the similar Kidde 10 year battery smoke carbon monoxide alarm -not hardwired-and the alarm screwed easily to the base plate with no installation problems; these came in original Kidde packaging with anchor screws and red dust covers.

**The Kidde support was excellent! Within 10 minutes on the phone they determined the issue and are shipping a replacement. ***Note: if you have this problem, call them when it's occurring to troubleshoot. Initial review: Worked great for 6 months then began going off with error messages. It would beep three times then say "smoke detector error" . We'd spray the vents with compressed air, reset it and it would be okay for awhile. Then it began going off everyday. Sometimes multiple times. We had to disarm it to stop it saying "smoke detector error". I'm very disappointed with this product. I had my last two for 10 years with no problems until the built-in battery died. Just like it's supposed to work. But this one is a complete failure. Wish me luck with getting a replacement from Kidde. If not, I will find another product that works! So disappointed.

I bought two of the newer model Kiddie 30CUA10-V to replace my two older model Kiddie KN-COSM-IB. One of my older model units failed at 7 years (not 10 years as advertised) and I never got any kind of audible warning. I discovered it was failing during testing of the unit. Since I was replacing the failed unit I went ahead and replaced the other unit since both were bought at the same time in 2019. My only disappointment with the new model is that the quick-connect connector wasn’t compatible with the old model so I also had to purchase the quick-connect adapter model Kiddie 20-9003 for a true quick-connect connection (so I didn’t have to do any wiring). The new model fit the existing round ceiling bracket from the old model which was fantastic. The design of the new model is also improved and just looks better than the old model. I do recommend buying the voice models since they take the guess work out of why the alarm is sounding, as you’re likely not to remember what all of the different series of beeps represent.

This is a dependable Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector. I bought two ten years ago and the battery in both died within a day of each other. The 10-year battery backup guarantee is accurate. Although they never went off in that time as a warning of Carbon Monoxide in my home, they offer a peace of mind that if there ever is, they will. The chirp is loud enough to be heard through the house and beeps every 2 minutes - at least for a dead battery. I was so impressed with the last ones, it was the only brand I considered buying when they needed to be replaced. They also get the highest rating among CO detectors.
