I'm not a big fan on the "Dummies" series, but this one is excellent.  Less patronising and straining to be fun and friendly than most of them.  The author offers a very wide range of ways to approach relaxation, recognising that different things work for different people.  The CD is also good - he has a very gentle calming voice.

I was looking for relaxation strategies, and in particular, a meaningful relaxation CD, as a way of coping with the stress and tensions of busy life. This is full of useful ideas, some of which resonated more than others. Excellent. Very pleased with it.

This is a ideal introductory book for relaxation techniques, it give a good overview of a very large range of therapies and treatments. It's well written and contains lots of resources for further information and practical exercises. You can easily dip in and out of he various sections.
