Why is the pigtail rated for 5amps yet the converter is putting out 10?

The pigtail is only rated for five amps because of the wire and connector size. It is only 22 gauge wire and will not handle 10 Amp. You should have at least 18 gauge for that. I tried it on my project and the connector and the pigtail became very hot. I ended up just cutting off the connector and spliced the power leads directly to the cable for my project and it worked fine. The 12 Volt cable coming out of the power supply is 18 gauge.
