Low-Carb Lifesaver for a Noodle-Holic in Recovery
Being on a low-carb diet feels like being in a committed relationship with sadness—especially when you’re craving noodles like your life depends on it. Enter this shirataki noodle variety pack: my new best friend and carb-free therapist. Let’s be honest, they all taste the same no matter what shape they come in—angel hair, fettuccine, spaghetti, or “mystery tangle”—but somehow that just makes them more lovable. They’ve got that light, chewy rice noodle vibe, like something straight out of a bowl of pho. Perfect for pho, ramen, pad Thai, or whatever other Asian-inspired dish I’m emotionally eating my way through. Do NOT expect an Italian pasta experience. This is not your grandma’s al dente linguine. It’s more “slurpy tofu ghost” than “chewy durum wheat,” but if you’re in it for the noodle feel and not the carbs, this stuff delivers. The price is fair, especially considering how many noodle personalities are packed in. And the best part? I can eat a whole bowl and still fit into my jeans like a smug keto wizard. Highly recommend to anyone who misses noodles but not their love handles.

Great way to add volume to your meal
Tastes like nothing and has a texture slightly more gummy and firm than regular rice. I use it to add volume to short grain rice dishes and you can’t really tell it’s even in there but you end up eating half the rice you normally would! Also super quick and easy to prepare

texture gummy and slippery and not much flavor but edible
this product is edible but it is more like wet gummy bears than noodles in consistency. I did eat them but they did need rinsing and drying before eating. They did not soak up flavor from sauces and kind of stayed slippery and distinct but they were filling and did not get hung up in digestion...so they could be considered an expensive sort of low calorie filler but are not really ideal food as a stand alone. I would consider it again for weigh loss only but not great on their own. Rice texture probably the best cause they can be swallowed as is more or less in a soup or other dish where it just blends in.

Look elsewhere, doesn't firm up at all
After following the instruction on the packet, and draining the angle hair, then soaking it in hot water, i was left with 2 tablespoons of mush from a full packet. not a meal, but a waste of money. Really regret that i bought a 6 pack of this worthless crap. go with another brand.

labor intensive
I didn't realize there was so much prep. I thought I could just put it in a bowl and heat it up.

Fantastic, with a few things to know!
Fantastic low carb rice replacement with a few things to know! I really love shiritake/Konjac products as low carb/calorie starch replacements and this product is no exception, however, there are a few things folks should know when using them. The first word is rinse rinse rinse. You'll notice that all shiritake products come packed in water and have a notable fishy funk. This can be very easily removed by thoroughly rinsing with cold water in a strainer. Specific to this product is the shape. It's advertised as a rice replacement, and while it certainly serves that purpose to an extent, I've found that it really feels a bit more like quinoa in terms of its size and shape, or perhaps a very very short grain rice. Like all shiritake products, it's basically completely flavorless, and that's a good thing! It's a blank canvas that allows you to add the flavorings and seasonings of your choice, which it takes on extremely well and means it can be used in a wide range of cuisines. So far, I've used it to make Thai style peanut fried rice, a mushroom risotto like dish, a rice salad and as an accompaniment to some Indian spiced chicken. Do also bear in mind that you're not going to get the super fluffy quality you get from traditional rice, again, it's more like a grain in that respect. Overall, if you're looking for a starch replacement that's low calorie, diverse and flexible, this really is a fantastic product. It's quick and easy to prepare and helps it feel like you're not missing out on your favorite parts of a complete meal when eating in a calorie deficit.
