This clamp is very solid and has great holding power. I use this for pulling knots tight and as a starting clamp. I also use this as a pigtail clamp when I cut the length of string a bit too short, so my last pull won't reach the tensioner. The holes on the side allowed me to tie off a pigtail, then clamp the string and make the final pull. Yes, there are cheaper ones out there, but based on some reviews of some cheaper ones coming apart under tension, I don't think it's worth the risk. This will be a tool that will last forever.

Perfect main starter clamp. Diamond dusted clamping surface, no slippage on 70lbs pull test, doesn't deform strings that much, clamp head is smaller and lighter, doesn't require too much strength to open.
