29pin=12gb/s host to 12gb/s drives 8482 29pin (pin) is divided into 22+7 PIN, the middle 7PIN is empty, the actual does not affect the use of the transfer rate is 12gp/s. 8643 is 12g, divided into four 8482 is each 3Gb / s.

Will with power and work with sata drives? no additional cable needed?

I think you're right that the SAS data connector is backwards compatible to a SATA drive. The opposite is not true: not forwards compatible from a SATA data connector to a SAS. But the power you'll just have to connect separately to your SATA drive like you already do. Unlike with a SAS drive, you can't stack the power connector onto this cables drive-end connector. Does that make sense?
