Astro Pneumatic Tool ADN38 XL Rivet Nut Drill Adapter Kit - 3/8" Capacity

I have been putting off buying this tool for 6 months but I was getting my snowblower ready for the snow season and one of the bolts for the skid plate would not thread in to the retainer nut so I thought this would be perfect time to put a rivet nut in there instead. I received it today and put 4 stainless steel rivet nuts in and It was so easy and quick. I used a m18 drill on low torque setting and went slow and it worked perfectly. Hopefully it lasts for years

Great tool…worked well for my installation using 3/8” rivnuts…one thing to mention..once the rivnut is complete or installed..your must remove the Astro tool from the rivnut by backing out or .. (reversing) the tool out BY HAND…DO NOT DO THIS BY REVERSING THE DRILL…

If you do riv nuts in volume, this is a must have tool. I purchased both sizes of this tool. its quick, easy to use, and precise in placement of the nut, especially in tight quarters. You'll need to "waste" a few nuts for training (for your specific drills torque setting) but once you have things tuned-in, you'll wonder how you ever did without it. It is on the pricey side but I think for sake of functionality as well as ease of use, its worth it.

First rivet and the drive shaft broke. Not impressed at all. Contacted customer service and they are sending me the part that failed. So far customer service has been great. I hope it performs better after I change the part.

This tool is simply amazing. Ran 50 M6 rivnuts with it the first day and didn't have a single issue. Haven't tested the XL sizes yet, but seems like it will be fine. Only a little more than a hand tool and well worth the investment. only issue I could see would be the size, it does get long when attached to the drill, but wasn't an issue for me.

Wanted to love this thinking some are not using it per the instructions. Unfortunately they are all correct. I was being VERY careful not to over forge the tool. 20 perfect 3/8” rivnuts then the intervals shattered. Great idea but absolutely horrible internal components. Very soft metal, there is no way this will ever work with stainless rivnuts. Maybe when the company listens to the customer about its defects and improves the quality I’ll buy again.

Used this one time so far but very happy. I am using this for a van buildout of a sliding platform bed and mounting unistrut rails for cabinets. This tool works great. Highly recommend practicing each time with similar material and material width.

Having used it, you can easily grip it. This is high torque and you could easily strip out the rivnut.

The tool worked well. Good quality.

Great tool, easy to use following the instructions. Tool can apply great torque on smaller rivnuts ie 1/4-20 and smaller. So much torque that the tool can strip both the rivnuts threads and the threads of tools mandrill. As such, Operators of tool are reminded to place the rivnuts on the tool first, then inset rivnut into hole.

This is really strong and tighten down fast. Be careful and go slowly or do as they say and use your clutch. I used a MW 2904 on beast mode to set my nuts and quite a few of the threads got messed up in the process, especially on the stainless steel rivets. I had to pull out my tap & die set to fix the gnawed up threads at least twice setting 8 rivet nuts, using 10 since there's 2 I had to drill out because they were beyond recovering. Also make sure you're level and plumb or you'll run into the same issues. I would recommend you use this with a hand ratchet until you get the hang of it and figure out what a properly set rivet looks like, it is easy to over do it.
