This is a replacement for the prior version of this product in our household. We actually went through two instances of the prior version, as the first one delivered by Amazon functioned for only about one month before it wouldn't take a charge and remain on reliably. Amazon replaced the product, and the replacement unit served us pretty reliably for almost exactly a year. One might like a product at this price to last longer than that, but see below. This version is superior in a number of ways: 1. The soap reservoir is completely open. When you remove the top/lid on this one, you have an unrestricted cylinder to fill with soap, which makes eyeballing quantity left and refilling very easy. The prior version had a "throat" just under the top/lid that made it practically impossible to see how much soap was left and also more cumbersome to refill. 2. The power button is a small, sliding toggle switch. Its size makes it a little difficult to turn off and on, but that's actually a good thing. The power button on the former version was a soft-touch press style, which resulted in inadvertent powering down when simply moving the unit. 3. The charging connector is simpler. The functionality of this dispenser is very good. We never have any problems with clogging (we use Dawn dish soap), and the variable dispense function based on hand/sponge proximity is a welcome touch. The charge lasts several weeks. Is the price kind of high for what it does? Sure, but this is one of those small quality of life items that you'll probably use a dozen times per day. I hope this one lasts at least a year; if it does, I'll by another one (assuming SH still produces the model).

This is an extremely nice device. You can fill it up with any soap type that isn't too thick. I use it at my kitchen sink to deliver my liquid dish detergent. You can use it in a bathroom for handsoap. It is a touch-free liquid soap delivery method that allows for various amounts to be dispensed. It is very sturdy and is easy to use. It charges by virtue of a computer connection. (I would have prefered a charge cord that could be used with a standard wall plug.) It takes a bit of time to charge, but the charge will last a good 3-4 months with regular usage. It is easy to clean. The motion sensor works based on a hand motion underneath the spout. While it is sturdy, I would have liked to see a screw-in top cover to avoid any spillage. The push-on top only seats at the allowable level of liquid. Overall, this unit helps to dispense a proper amount and reduces mess in the area.

This works well with straight Dawn dish soap; no need to add water like other cheaper/plasticky brands require. The white simple human version costs more but it is well-made and maintains a clean look. If you plan to use it for dish soap just pay the extra and get this.

Works beautifully for hand soap—looks good, dispenses reliably, and the touchless operation feels like a small daily luxury. Build quality is excellent, which is what you'd expect from simplehuman. Charging is simple and the matte black finish looks sharp on the counter. That said, if you're hoping to use this at the kitchen sink, there are a few quirks. The spout is shorter than I expected, which makes getting soap onto a larger sponge a bit awkward. The sensor also struggles to recognize your hand when you're holding something, so it just sits there, unimpressed. Thicker soaps like Dawn don't dispense as smoothly either, at least in my experience. Value-wise, it's on the pricier side for what it does—definitely more of an indulgence than a necessity. But if you appreciate good design and want something that feels premium, the cost is easier to justify. Best for bathroom use with liquid hand soap. it works there without complaint. For dishwashing, you might find it a little limited. Still a quality product, just with a narrower sweet spot than I initially assumed.

Love it! I’m using mine in the kitchen with dish soap. Works perfect and does not clog at all. It also saves you money because it dispenses an exact amount so you don’t over use with a manual squeeze or spray of the store bought soap. I really can’t believe how much I was wasting before I use my usual store brand of liquid soap and now keep the main botttle under the sink until it’s refill time.

I love this thing!! I put one at every sink in my house. It is so easy to use! I love that I can fill it with dish soap to easily soap up my sponge without making a mess. It is very good quality, solid metal, and the charge lasts over 3 weeks. I like that you can adjust how much soap you get based on where you put your hand. It's super easy to refill. Just lift the top off, pour in your soap, and you're good to go. The size is about the size of any normal hand soap bottle your would get at BABW. I will say the black is harder to keep clean and water spots do show, but I just wipe it off when I'm done cleaning the kitchen.

This is such a great product... when it works. First, the casing is actual metal, heavy and absolutely gorgeous- aesthetics are top notch. This version is definitely an improvement over the last one, the top fill and rechargeable battery are great. However, this is now the 3rd unit I've had to purchase. Each one has just stopped working after less than a year. Unit has turned off, won't dispense, I believe the motor is dead. This thing is NOT cheap, and for this amount of money it should work for more than year. I'd be happy to replace a cheap twenty buck unit every year, but not at this price. Especially considering that this particular one has more than doubled in price in the past few years.

Bester Sensorspender

This product works flawlessly and is undoubtedly of high quality. The magnetic charger is a great feature, and I believe all rechargeable appliances should have one. However, the charging port contacts are exposed, which raises concerns about how it will withstand moisture over time. To date, I have only used the genuine Simple Human hand soap with it.
