It will work well with a nutmeg grater (you know, the kind where if you're not careful you'll end up grating your finger tips or knuckle), but beware: it is so fresh that it is not dry enough to work in a grinder (such as the ones where you put the nutmeg in the bottom, twist the top on, and then turn a crank handle - you may also call these a nutmeg mill). Regardless, it won't work well - you will need to set the nutmeg out and let it air dry for..well...weeks (at least in our case) before it will work in one of those devices. But you can always inhale it's heady scent as you walk by, while waiting for it to dry out enough.
