Got this for my cousin. She was happy receiving the book in good condition and was delivered one day before the actual delivery date.

Rating: 4.6/5 There is a slightly different feel about this compared with Ruth Ware's previous novels. Comparisons have been drawn between Ruth Ware and Agatha Christie - and that is evident again here. Swap an isolated island off the Devon coast for a secluded chalet in the alpine ski resort of Saint Antoine. Then replace the cast of characters with the shareholders and directors of a high-tech start-up business, who are in disagreement about a high value buyout. Now you have have the ingredients for a locked room style mystery in the spirit of "And Then There Were None". All you need is for the guests to start prematurely meeting their maker ... et voilà! The scene is set for a classic whodunnit. However, what makes this so good is that it isn't just a whodunnit in the classical style. This story shows a different aspect of Ruth Ware's armoury as it transforms into a taut, tense and suspenseful thriller. The author adds to this by making the most of the environmental factors to create a claustrophobic atmosphere. Ruth Ware has an uncanny ability to create settings and characters that are totally authentic and credible - if not always likeable. Consequently, it is very easy to find yourself being drawn into the scenario that she paints. Once again, she absolutely nails those aspects in "One by One" and enhances it with her own individual and seemingly effortless style of storytelling. If you have enjoyed Ruth Ware's books previously, you will love this one too. If you have read her work and have not, as yet, been won over, then this may make some readers think again.

Se não existe um momento bom para estar preso em uma casa com um assassino em série, é ainda pior quando a tempestade de neve piora e eles se veem presos em um chalé sem energia, sem contato com o resto do mundo e sem saber em quem confiar. Quem será o assassino? E mais importante, quem será o próximo? Não é à toa que Ruth aware é considerada a “Rainha do só mais um capítulo”, é simplesmente impossível largar esse livro!! Escrito em duas vozes, Liz e Erin, a gestora do Chalé, a mistura de suspense e mistério é uma combinação incrível! Claramente inspirada em “E não sobrou nenhum”, a fã declarada de Agatha Christie leva esse livro para além do mistério e quando a resposta nos é dada o livro continua mais eletrizante ainda como um suspense! A análise psicológica de personagens também está presente dando uma profundidade ainda maior a obra. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Ruth Ware’s latest novel, “One by one” - clearly resembling a locked-room mystery - is set in an isolated and luxury chalet which is only reachable by a funicular from the French ski resort of St Antoine. The novel's incipit starts off by reporting a sensational murder of four British people after an avalanche hit the area and the chalet and its guests and staff were trapped inside, adding that the local police was still investigating. So, by the start of the first chapter the reader is already hooked. There is mystery, curiosity about what really happened, why and who did it. By then, you are already under Ruth Ware’s spell. The ingredients that make this novel a fast-turning thriller are definitely the location – the mountains, the isolation, the chalet and the runs, so well depicted that you might even think that you have been there too, and its characters: the guests - shareholders and employees of the latest, coolest new music app called Snoop, who are not only planning to spend a relaxing week-off but also deciding the company’s future by accepting a buyout that could make some of them unexpectedly rich, and the staff: two young Britons, Erin and Danny, who are bound by a strong friendship. A first fatal accident is followed by three more deaths, in a sequence of events that leaves nothing to fatality: there is a murderer among them and the awareness of this makes the characters and the readers wondering why this is happening. And who is killing them, one by one. We are guided through the whole story thanks to the alternate narration of Liz, one of the guest, and Erin: two women who look apparently different, but who both hide important secrets.

Arrived in a great condition despite it being used, it seemed like it was beand new. The packaging was good too. And the price was so tempting, I couldn’t not buy it. 👍👍
