I am a health "nut"! Good health in retirement is my highest priority. Black walnuts contain three main components that make them beneficial when consumed – antioxidants, polyunsaturated fats, and phenolic compounds. The walnuts also contain a range of other nutrients that includes fiber, protein, melatonin, and folate, which is a type of B vitamin. So I highly recommend eating black walnuts for this reason. However, I will say that they have an odd flavor, but it is not bad. I crush them and add them to kombucha, in order to remove anti-nutrients. I do the same thing with chia seeds and other nut flours (as part of a Keto diet) If you are overweight, do some research (podcasts etc.) about insulin resistance, intermittent fasting, exercise program and Keto diet; don't rely on drugs to manage your problem--take the initiative. I wish you good health! FYI: The best thing you could do for your health is to stop eating any sugar. It is poison for your body. I learned that truth from a Chinese Book of Health back in the early 80's.

I bought these to add to my morning protein shake. On the first "dose" of the nuts into my shake, I noticed a different taste in the shake. Since I do mix up my ingredients (sometimes walnut milk, sometimes almond milk) I thought perhaps one of my ingredients had gone bad. This odd taste continued for about a week and I couldn't put my finger on what had changed. One day I took some of these walnuts and placed them with some plain yogurt and raspberries. Once I began eating, I noticed that same off taste. Since I don't place yogurt or raspberries in my shake, I suspected it was the walnuts. I then took about a half teaspoon of just the walnuts and WOW! The odd tasting ingredient in my shake were the walnuts. I described the taste above as "nastiest", but they were truly off beyond description. In fairness to the product I had both my adult sons taste them and their evaluation was far worse than mine. One can "say" that they may have gone bad/rancid, but I first began using them as soon as they were delivered. They should not have been rancid. In fairness, others who have posted here have loved them whilst others have voiced similar concerns that I have. It's truly a dice roll if you decide to order and know that going in based on the totality of all the reviews.

These are the best black walnuts .. have been buying from this company for over 40 years I used to order them directly from the company but easier now with Amazon Still the same great quality and taste . Highly recommended

Fresh, hard to find but wort the cost

Good but too expensive. I get them at Samsclub for a much. Better price. This was at a time of year they didn't carry them

I have not tasted these nuts, but my friend is a black walnut LOVER. I bought these along with a black walnut cookbook as a birthday present for her last month. She loved it! Now I look forward to getting to taste some of her creations!

These are not easy to find anywhere. They taste great.

The bag I ordered is very fresh. I will order again when they are available.

American Black walnuts are considerably milder than Canadian Black Walnuts. I was disappointed in the flavour.
