Asia's Finest Chips: ASIAN LAYS Variety 4 Pack Chips with Bento Squid Snack Bundle (Combo)

This is an interesting order. You will receive four bags of Asian Lay's chips, of random varieties. I received Imitation Stewed Artificial Pork Ball Flavor, Sizzling Artificial Squid Flavor, Imitation Italian Red Meat (artificial) Flavor and Roasted Garlic Oyster Flavor in addition to the Bento dried squid snack. I have so far tried the Imitation Italian Red Meat chips and they are pretty good - just not your standard snacking fare if you are accustomed to the varieties sold in American supermarkets. I have not yet worked up the courage to sample the other flavors. If you are familiar with these Lay's from travels or living overseas, they may well be something that would be of interest to you. They are not going to become mainstream American snacks...ever. It's likely very difficult to find a selection of this type offered anywhere else but Amazon. They are packed well and the products are fresh. If you are an adventuresome foodie, this may be a welcome opportunity to indulge in an exotic and rare snack.

Happy to find these unusual Asian flavors of Lays potato chips from China but the at the time of this review the group includes only four 2.11 to 2.46 ounce bags that granted are larger than the ten shown but expectations were for many more flavors to try. The flavors I received are Imitation Stewed Artificial Pork Ball, Imitation Italian Red Meatball, Sizzling Artificial Squid and Roasted Garlic Oyster. Also included is the Squid Seafood Snack which is 0.65 ounces.If vegetarian/vegan or have sensitivities/allergies note most contain an assortment of seafood powders along with wheat, soy, milk and sesame.—also the sweeteners stevia and aspartame (equal) and sugar are used in some of the flavors. The chips have expiration dates that range from 4 to 5 months in the future and the seafood snack is good for 13 months in the future. Fun but wish all the flavors were included.

The listing is not very clear as to what you receive. It's hidden in there that it's only a 4 pack. The pictures show a big box of chips! Never have I had a variety pack with the first picture NOT be exactly what you received. Even the 2nd picture has 12 bags of chips!!I would not have ordered if I would have known you had a possibility of getting one of the flavors. I received the worst flavors - one of which isn't even in the pictures!!! $9.99 for 4 crummy bags of chips and 1 weird artificial squid thing is insane. Do not purchase this item based on the photos given, nor by the desciption. At the time of this order the main title photo shows 14 bags of chips & states you get a variety. The description stated you get 4 bags & had listed flavors included were lime (chich everyone in my family enjoys), cucumber (which I wanted to try) squid (which both my kids like some squid snacks in the past...) I have noticed the description has since changed, which is good as that was not what was received. We received Italian Red Meat Flavor, Suckling Pig Flavor (I assume, Pork),Sizzling Artificial Squid Flavor, and Roasted Garlic Oyster along with the Squid Snack Bundle. My daughter loves spicy, so enjoyed was excited to try the bento squid snack... they were soft like a fruit leather, a texture she didn't care for. My son tried the pork & meat flavors & thought the italian meat smelled strange, but found the flavor ok. I liked the garlic in the garlic oyster chips. Definitely different! The price must be because these products are difficult to find in the US. It was interesting trying different flavored chips. I don't think I would order again though. Also the photos and description at the time I orded was misleading...but it looks like they have tried to update that now, which is good. If you like seafood, might be worth a try for you!

I got the combo pack, which I think is just a random assortment from the flavors they have. I don't think you're guaranteed to get the 4 flavors that are shown in the picture, so order with an open mind.That said, I tried the strangest/what I thought would be the worst flavor (BBQ squid) and they turned out to be my favorite--almost tasted like spicy salmon. Sounds terrible for a chip, but they're actually pretty great. So too are the squid snacks that come with the chips.I wish the flavor combos would change monthly so you know what you're going to get/you don't receive four bags of chips you've tried and don't like. Other than that, though, these are awesome chips that are uniquely flavored and fun to try with friends/loved ones.

Be aware... On mobile, the image is cropped, so you just see the box with all of the chips. There is no other indication that this listing is for just four bags of chips and one thing of squid snack. We were bummed to only get four, but after trying them, we are okay with only getting these fours! The flavors are not good, and the ingredients are terrible. Every bag contained wheat, so another heads up if you can't have wheat/gluten. We got Italian Red Meat Flavor, Imitation Crispy Roast Artificial Suckling Pig Flavor (what?!), Roasted Cumin Artificial Lamb Skewer, and Sizzling Artificial Squid Flavor. The Italian Red Meat was the only palatable one; the others went straight into the compost. The same was true for the Bento Squid Snack. It was in four individual bags, with three sheets each, but they were stuck together and hard to get out of the bag. There was no best by date on this one, so I don't know that that's normal or not? Three of the bags of chips had a best by date of Sept 2024 and one was May 2024. Overall, bummed about this order. We like trying other countries' food items, but this was a big miss.
