I'd recommend it as a first step in mastering Modern Standard ...
You learn by ear the same way you learned your native language. Very effective in my experience. I'd recommend it as a first step in mastering Modern Standard Arabic.

Very good and could have been excellent with some written material
I have been learning Arabic for about 3 years now and I have been exposed to many teachings material regarding Arabic. I can confidently say that this is one of the best material out there for those interested in learning MSA. However, it would be have better if they had included a quick study note on the content. Just listening without any written text can cause confusion. For example, we say N as in Nancy or M as in Marry to avoid confusion the same problem exists in Arabic too. So, by just relying on what you hear without any written material to help differentiate between confusing letters sounds disturbed me a bit. Overall I am satisfied but could have been more if there were written materials along with the CDs.

It works
I spoke to my Arabic patient for the first time yesterday and they understood every word! I’m about a month a half in.

Excellent series
This is a very well done introduction to conversational Arabic. The pattern of repetition and method of breaking down words has made it possible to gain rapid familiarity with a useful basic vocabulary. I have used Pimsleur before with another language and certainly will again.

Unfortunately this doesn't seen to be part of the series ...
Unfortunately this doesn't seen to be part of the series. There are only 6 cd's so when it's over you will only know how to ask for coffee, tea, streets and extremely basic questions using when, where, and what. I decided to return and get the other program from the same company that starts with 30 lessons for Lesson 1 because I'm afraid that if I jump from this one to level 2 of the other program I will be very lost.

Excellent learning tool, highly recommend
Excellent introduction to Arabic. Easy to follow and the method seems to really "cement" what you are learning into your brain! We bought a few other methods that didn't seem to really help.

Easy to pick up thanks to the brilliant teaching system. This is my 2nd Pimsleur language program. I really like the way I learn though repetition. Only thing I dislike is that it's tailored towards American men, but if you can overlook that, you'll be speaking Arabic quickly.

I'm only at my third lesson right now but, so far, I am very impressed. To become fully fluent in English a few years ago, I used Larousse; unfortunately, this doesn't exist anymore. While Pimsleur's approach is slightly different, it has THE key ingredient in my opinion to master any new language: they ask us to repeat verbally sentences... shorter at first, and then slightly longer. This is essential to be able to utter whole sentences at a time (no weird pauses) rather than pronounce one word at a time like most people who learn a second language. I must also admit that I was a bit suspicious that each lesson seems to contain only about 10 new words. But they are so carefully chosen, that you will feel your proficiency is going through the roof in such a short time. All in all, I highly recommend it!

Friend of mine recommended this learning CD I must say it works wonderfully. I always found learning a language very difficult. and Arabic is especially hard but I believe this CD makes it as easy as possible

Best way to learn a language short of moving to the place where the language is spoken
