Johnstone's - Exterior Smooth Masonry Paint - Natural Sage - 5L

This paint is the best masonry paint I’ve used. We have a garden wall that was painted a very dark terracotta colour. The wall itself is very old at 127 years so not flat but still strong. I wanted to brighten the area up with a light green paint. This fitted the bill but I was worried as to how many coats would be needed to cover the remaining terracotta. I’m so impressed with this as it did a great job with two coats. The paint itself is smooth texture so easy to apply and coped really well on the uneven surface. I used a large brush as a roller couldn’t cope with the imperfections in the wall. I also used a cheap stiff artists brush to get into all the crevices. I applied one coat and left it overnight to dry but it was touch dry in an hour. It does state not to apply it in temperatures less than 10 degrees. It definitely needed the second coat but now there’s no horrible red in sight. You can see from my photos the colour I was covering and that particular photo shows one coat. The other shows the finished wall. I checked the area I was covering and I think it would cover around 30 square meters with an old wall. The tin says 60 and I do think it would just about do that if you are painting a perfect new wall with no imperfections. A five litre tin allowed me to complete the job and have some left for touching up so a perfect size. Before painting I removed all the loose paint and treated weeds and moss. The brushes wash out in warm soapy water so really easy. This was great value for money and I’m definitely going to use this make again.

Excellent masonry paint true to colour label. Easy to apply, durable with great coverage. Drys fast in summer weather. So pleased we brought more to do front and rear of house. Highly recommend.

Lovely paint goes on really well, personally I think its not quite dark enough for Sage. But it is perfectly acceptable.

- Consistency great - thick but smooth - Colour not sage but more of a mint shade - Low odour and water-based (Good!) - Wear gloves as hard to scrub off hands - Great value and goes far - Great finish but 3 coats needed for my wall

Just what I wanted looked at lots of different shades as I didn’t want to dark for all my windows, porch and walls, went by photos on the reviews and I’m happy with the finish even though I hate painting the finished look is lovely. Good value for money I did need 2 tins in the end but there was a lot to paint.

Very good paint, good coverage and easy to clean up. Have used on the Wood on the front of my House & this paint is easier to paint on than traditional gloss paint. Great for protecting from the weather! 2 coats and the job is done . Saved money too!
