Not great

I first heard about pearl powder when I was reading an article on the beauty routines of famous women. I was intrigued, so I did my research and decided that I would begin using pearl powder for its skin clarifying and anti-aging properties, but as I am unable to afford expensive powders and supplements on a long-term basis, I ordered this product and hoped for the best. I was skeptical due to the affordability of this product and the sheer number of other knock-offs available on the market. And when I opened the package as per the written instructions, I was annoyed to discover that the inner ziplock was upside down and the top part of the ziplock opening was sealed into the bottom of the packet. (I was able to cut off a sliver of the very top and the bag remained intact). However, I poured the powder into a different container because it was very flimsy. On to the actual review: This product worked very well. With only a few uses, my skin is noticeably clearer and softer. The first time I used it, I made a mask with a little pearl powder and milk. I left it on my face for a few minutes and my face seemed brighter and and clearer than before, but it didn't feel extremely soft (I have very dry skin and I was waiting for anoyher product to come in the mail, so I hadn't exfoliated and my cheeks and forehead were a little rough and flaky to begin with). The next night I mixed it with yogurt and applied it on my face and neck and saw futher improvement. My face felt softer and although I could still see the dead skin, it was smoothed out and less flaky. I will say that simply brushing dry pearl powder onto my face after moisturizing was too drying for me. The next night I mixed it in with some of my moisturizer (you have to be careful of the ratios of powder-to-moisturizer you use) and it absorbed into my skin very quickly. It does sort of leave a funny white cast on your face for at least a little while. That being said, I do think it has also lightened/whitened my skin a little (I'm south asian and medium-tan), although that wasn't nescessarily the goal. I've never had much trouble with acne, but I did have have a lot of pink spots and blemishes on my cheeks that I wanted to even out, and this pearl powder seems to be doing a very good and quick job of that. I've looked at my face in both natural and artificial lighting at different times of the day, and my skin does look better. I tried mixing some powder into my green tea, but I think I used too much and it turned cloudy and some sank to the bottom. It gave the tea a funny taste, so I'm not sure you should be taking this product internally, but I've had such good results using it topically that I might try it again. If not, I'll buy supplements. ***Packaging could be better, but for the price, this product is unbeatable. Notes: Again, be careful of the proportions you use and perhaps try a little bit at a time.

i love love this powder specially for oily skin it can be used as a pressed powder. u can use it as a mask .it gives nice glow on ur face. worth buying it. 100 % reccommend it..

So, this product comes in a little ziplock type bag, within a plastic bag. It's not messy, as others have indicated...it's powder, so treat it as such. I haven't attempted to ingest it, because that's odd to me. However, I have very oily skin and occasional acne, and this has definitely improved my skin! I dip my powder brush into the bag, tap the excess off, and use it as a loose powder. I have a medium tanned complexion, and if I blend well, it doesn't leave a visible powdery look. It keeps my skin oil free all day, and I have a mildly, but noticeably clearer complexion, without a drying effect. I wish I had started using this years ago. I'll never buy loose powder again. I have little freckles under my eyes and this hasn't done anything for them, however, it does seem like my fine lines are less visible for some reason. Sometimes I brush some on and leave it overnight as well, it rinses cleanly the next morning.

This is an overall great product for the price. Pearl powder has been used for years. It has excellent properties and really can be used in a variety of ways. Facial mask, clay mask, used as a finishing powder, brightening powder for the face and you can even take it internally. I use this in facial mask and for the brightening effects. I just dust a little on my face and I'm good to go for the day. Compare this to any of the setting powders and brightening powders you are spending a fortune on at Sephora/Ulta etc. This package will last you a long time. I used to spend a fortune at Sephora. Always had to have the latest, greatest and of course the most expensive items. But now that I know about all the chemicals that I was slathering on my face, I haven't looked back. I've been DIY my own skin and body care now for almost 10 years. The only issue I have with this is the packaging. It comes in a sealed sturdy plastic bag, BUT trying to open this is absolutely a pain and if your not careful, you will end up with powder everywhere!!! It says that once you open the bag, there is a seal that you can close the bag back up. Ummm no, there is not. I had to empty the bag into another bag. I seriously had powder everywhere. So if you buy this, just carefully open the bag and deposit the product into another bag or even glass jar. The powder itself is pure white and very fine powder. Good product, bad packaging.
