TESSAN Type M Adapter for South Africa, PD 20W 2 Pack

These adapters were exactly what we needed for our trip to South Africa. I really liked having multiple outlets and USB ports in one adapter, which made it easy to charge our phones, cameras, and other electronics without needing to pack a bunch of separate adapters. The USB-C port was especially convenient, and having two adapters in the pack was great for traveling as a couple or having one in different rooms. They feel sturdy and well-made, and everything worked exactly as expected. For the price, I think these are a great value and definitely worth having if you’re traveling to South Africa. They made charging all of our devices so much easier!

This adapter was purchased for our recent drop to South Africa. They worked well. They are a bit bulky and heavier because of the large plugs.

This seems to be a very nice device and we certainly will find out on our African Safari. So, why the 1 star removal, its because of the false USB-C fast charge statement. These do NOT have fast charge. USB-A’s are 5V 2.4A, USB-C is 5V 3A. Amps x Volts = Watts. A fast charge is technically 20 Watt(W). The USB-C is 15W. That by itself takes away a star however I’m not done here. The 20W they advertise is “combined” 20W meaning if your pulling 5W out of both of those USB Type A’s your only left with 10W for your fast charge USB Type C. You acn only have bottom end fast charge if nothing else is plugged into it-that bites. Value for the money is fare, compatibility is good, versatility and functionality is yet to be tried.

Works great. I love that there are multiple slots for plugs on each adaptor. I use them every time I go to SA for my phone and laptop chargers. Just be careful that US plugs with the left pin larger than the right will fit into this adaptor but because of the voltage difference in SA, the motor on any appliance with such a plug is liable to blow when you plug it in in South Africa. (I speak from experience - with another adaptor: a dehidrator from the US started smoking when I plugged it in, in SA, and the motor blew. In that case I should have known better because I had to force the plug into the adaptor. With this adaptor I would not have noticed the difference in the plugs.)

The adapters worked great. Some hotels have the standard American style outlet, but some have this South African outlet. I was glad to have these adapters with me when I saw the outlet in my hotel rooms. It's best to be prepared since many hotels and resorts are not near shopping areas.
