Fantastic, what a good quality performing very well.

My reason for only four stars was because it was not clear to me that the red security tab had to be pushed down rather than, as I had imagined, allowed to protrude through one of the openings on the back plate. Had I examined the device when I took it out of the box, I would have realised that the red tab was hidden. When I managed to figure it out and had inserted the battery (provided), I was impressed to see a red blinking light and a good sized test button. Unfortunately, because this detector is smaller than my original, I could not utilise the existing screw holes. That problem was avoided by using magnitised discs also purchased at the same time.

This replaced a Fire Angel alarm with a “so called” 10 year battery life that is a fixed sealed unit that only lasted 4 1/2 yrs before it started bleeping !! Refused to come off the ceiling until it was hit with a screwdriver 🪛 and hammer 🔨!! It flew off in several different directions but at least it wasn’t bleeping !! Have replaced with this one that you can replace the battery and so far so good ! Ahhh …. Peace and quiet !!!

Easy to install. Loud and effective

This is ok, hence the middle of the road score. It is quite flimsy compared to the older one I was replacing and a bit fiddly to install. Also there is no external expiration date.
