If it equals one day's pay for you, buy it!
My sister has tried every single expensive shampoo on earth. I think the most she spent before was $50 (that's astronomical in my eyes). She slipped me the Lucky magazine article on this shampoo and I thought the price was sheer lunacy. Still, I bought it for her as a present and both of us tried it together. My sister's hair: fine, curly hair, color treated and with keratin treatment, between shoulder and armpit length. Her result: The best hair she's ever had air-dried with no other products on it. She absolutely loved it and said that having tried so many other expensive shampoos, she puts her seal of approval on this as the best of the bunch by far. On me: Long hair to midback, wavy but with straight roots. Not super frizzy but not sleek, either. My result: It took only a small quarter sized ball and I lathered it extra hard on my hands with a bit of water, then put the lather into my hair starting at the roots and I combed it all the way through my hair. I waited about 5 minutes or so and rinsed with cold water. My hair was so smooth that I didn't even think I needed to put conditioner on it. I let it air dry and I gotta say, I was in no way impressed with the results of this air dry. It was nice and it smelled good, but it was nothing out of the ordinary and DEFINITELY nothing I would spend $100 on. About four days later (I wash my hair every 3-4 days), I tried it again and this time I blow dried my hair quickly because I had to run out of the house in a hurry. WOW. what a difference. 1. My hair smelled like HEAVEN. 2. My hair was SO SOFT, and felt so fluffy. It was just beyond clean, every strand revitalized. 3. I had bounce and body, I looked like I was wearing bumpits (LOL, not my usual look, but it looked so healthy and shiny, I went with it). 3. Even a week later and 2 washes later with my regular shampoo, my hair was so soft and still smelled delicious (I don't even like musky scents like this one usually, but something about this one is so decadent). Now, I have good hair to begin with, I'm not going to lie, I'm very lucky. I really don't NEED a miracle shampoo like this, since I can get very similar results with $7 shampoo with panthenol in it, for example. But the fact that it made it stay so soft even after going back to my regular shampoo and knowing how little of it I'll actually need to use each time I wash my hair, where even if I wash it with this shampoo as a once a week treatment, this jar will last me at LEAST 6 months. And the money it will save on conditioner, b/c you barely have to use any! I currently spend about $15 per month on shampoo and conditioner anyhow. I don't think I could justify the $140, but getting it for $100 is totally worth it to me. I rationalize it as "Am I willing to work a full day in order to buy this shampoo?" Hell yes, so I just bought myself a jar, lol.

Love it (but ridiculously expensive)!
I first purchased this shampoo in a store many years ago at $65, as crazy as that seemed at the time. It was recommended to me by the sales clerk…. And now it’s $165. Use of a shampoo at this price should result in an hair miracle. Well, it’s good enough for me! I just use it sparingly and when I need a pick-me-up. But, recently I have decided I need to treat myself more frequently these days! 1- I love the gentle, fragrant scent! It lasts all day. 2- I love how it improves the look of my hair - my hair is hard to style and I am often normally unsatisfied with the final result, but not with this product. 3- I have highlights in my hair that fade over time but this shampoo seems to perk/brighten them up. I do try to also use the Philip B conditioner to ensure an overall positive effect because even salon-purchased hair products, while better than typical hair products that either leave my hair limp, dry, or greasy, they only provide an OK result. I did see a comment with a complaint about the texture of the shampoo — the shampoo starts as a gel-like consistency but your hair needs to be fully wet and you should rub the shampoo between your wet hands and then into your hair. It will provide the normal, sudsy consistency. Overall, while exceptionally expensive, so worth it for me!

Great product, just do not buy it from Beauty Collection because it's counterfeit or old
I love this shampoo - it has been my holy grail for about 3 years now. However, I should have known better than to buy this product at half of retail price from this Amazon seller, Beauty Collection. The product I received was NOT sealed, extremely diluted and/or counterfeit! The texture/color that I'm use to with this shampoo is not what this seller sent me. I cannot stress enough that when it is too good to be true, trust your gut! Amazon customer service was amazing and gave me a refund without issue - I will continue to shop with Amazon because of their service alone. Lastly, my husband gave me grief for buying a product to save $70 dollars when using it I could have gotten an allergic reaction or worse. I will use his advice going forward and buy only from trusted sellers that sell at a reasonable discount or pay retail. When it comes to your health, it's just not worth it! This product is divine for fine, colored hair.

Big Price for Small Changes
Like another reviewer, I would charaterize myself as a "product junkie". With all the hoopla, I ultimately couldn't resist. With great anticipation, I washed my hair with the Russian Amber. The texture is definitely different than anything I have ever experienced...a little bit like silly putty. But, with plenty of water, once you get the lather going it is like any other shampoo. Now, the big question - is it really worth it? My hair might be a little shinier and maybe it behaves a little better. I think the ends might be a little less dry. The thing is, I can't honestly say there is enough difference to tell if it's real, or in my head. The condition of my hair wasn't that bad to begin with...really fine, and suspectible to breakage, but basically soft, with some shine. So, maybe its more dramatic if you start from scorched earth. The smell is nice - maybe a little overpowering in the tub, but it doesn't seem to linger. In the end the price is pretty big for a difference that seems small.

I found that the best way to use this shampoo is to wash my hair first (I use a clarifying shampoo for the initial first wash), and then use this champoo. It's more effective and uses far less. The consistency is very unusual - something like liquid toffee without the stickiness! Scoop a little out and carefully work it between the fingers of both hands, apply the finger tips as close to the scalp as possible and all over, then start to work it into a lather, at the same time pulling it gently down the length. It's initially surprising that it does spread throughout all the hair and develops a rich lather. Take care not to drop any of the shampoo when first applying as it'll disappear down the plughole! I have quite a lot of fairly long, fine hair, and because I wash it with a cleansing shampoo first, only need around half teaspoonful to provide a rich and thorough lather. It makes it far more economical to use and is very effective. It smells lovely, feels luxurious and leaves hair clean, full and shiny. I follow up with a fairly lightweight conditioner applied to length and ends.
