2017 Dodge Charger R/T
Couldn’t find anything online of people putting this on the base trim looking cars (SXT style bumpers) So I decided to try it and see what happens. Air box fit a little weird, its a little short so I had to use that sticky air conditioner window foam at the base of the air box to create a good seal. Also the front inlet plate that goes next to the radiator was a bit further forward (closer to the grille) than it would be on a scat or cat. I left the original shield there too just cut a big square hole in it to fit the inlet tube through it. I didn’t want to loose all of that guided air through the radiator, probably why the new pice is so close to the grille since they are stacked on top of each other. I have seen a significant decrease in air temps. On the highway I see 6-10 degrees above ambient temp on an hot 88 degree day and 7-12 above on side streets. Temps still climb to the 140+ after 6-10 minutes of idling but definitely climbed up there slower than stock and drops much faster once you start driving than stock. This mod definitely helps a lot. Kinda feels cheap but can’t complain for a second since because of how inexpensive this is and how well it works. Also noting, yes you have to take the bumper off. Took me about 4 hours but I also installed new horns while I was in there. Never taken a bumper off before I’d say it’s a 3-5 hour job depending on skill level.
