This thing does an excellent job at cleaning. Since Amazon yearns to know how the suction is, I can say with confidence “it sucks.” As in it does good in the suction department. Noise is what you’d expect for a robot vacuum, not great, not terrible. Audible but honestly, for my average dude ears, “it is what it is, just turn the TV up a bit.” Having had a few different robo-vacuums over the years, this is top notch, and worth the slightly higher price. I also bought this to keep my Shark air purifier company, and since that thing looks like R2D2 lingering in the corner of my house, I named it O2D2 and this vacuum is now Clean3PO. Together they do a great job of making my home clean, both in air quality and floor quality.

I purchased this robot vacuum at a price significantly higher than many competitive models available on the market. For comparison, my parents bought a much more affordable robot from a less well-known brand around the same time. Their cheaper unit works perfectly and provides full control through an app that displays the robot’s exact location and cleaning route in real-time. In contrast, I am stuck with this far more expensive robot that I can only manually send to clean, with virtually no real control over mapping or area management. This massive lack of control stems entirely from the software required for the device: 1. The Shark Clean app itself is not feature-complete when compared to competitors. 2. Crucially, the app necessary for the full functionality (mapping, zone cleaning, tracking) is geo-restricted and unavailable for download in my country's android store. The result is that a robot sold at a premium price delivers the functionality of a basic, low-cost model. This geographical limitation makes key features of the product inaccessible, despite the robot being sold in my region. I have to watch my parents—who paid far less—enjoy the full, intended experience of robot ownership. For international customers, this robot is a poor investment, as the intended user experience is completely compromised by the unavailable control software.

I originally tried a Roomba j8+ which was a decent option, but it had various quirks that I wasn't happy with, such as getting "lost" under the bed and ignoring keep-out zones. I like the Shark brand and based on the good reviews, decided to give this one a try. The lidar enables this to map my home in under 10min vs. over an hour with the Roomba. And I needed some type of obstacle avoidance in case it runs across a dog "mess" that I haven't had a chance to clean it up. I hope to not have to test that, but it does avoid dog toys without issue. I also have several thin area rugs that bunch up easily, but this vacuum easily climbs over them. It will actually climb over lots of things because of it's "Neverstuck" feature, so you should probably supervise it for it's first cleaning. The downsides are minimal, especially for this price point. First, the single side brush only spins on hard surfaces -- whether it's due to a weak motor or some undocumented feature is unclear, but it's been mentioned by others online. Second, the Android app is rather barebones. You can only schedule a full house cleaning, not specific rooms. It's unclear at this time if Shark ever pushes firmware updates to the vacuum to increase performance or add features to the Android app. UPDATE 8/15/24: it does not avoid dog feces, even in well-lit conditions. Every component underneath was soiled. It took hours to disassemble everything I could and scrub/clean. It's not built to be cleaned in situations like this, and that part of the design could be improved. Luckily once it was all put back together it works fine; but I am no longer cleaning on a schedule and instead will trigger cleanings daily after first inspecting my floor.

Literally the BEST robot vac on the planet. I have always been a SHARK fan and own many SHARK products. Now, this robot it a massive step up over my previous Shark robot, which I still use in my basement and still works flawlessly. Highly recommend this model.

The first time I tried to set it up, it wouldn't connect to wifi. Told me to restart my phone and reset my router. I restarted my phone, but decided to try it again before restarting my router and it worked. Let it map the house, which seemed to go well. Assigning rooms was tricky and imprecise because the app won't let you adjust the width down unless you continuously enlarge the scale of the map. Scheduled a cleaning for the whole house, and it took off and seemed to navigate well and never got stuck anywhere. Very quiet. But with about 70% battery left, it came back to base. I was pretty sure it couldn't have finished - but how would I know unless I followed it around? The app doesn't show you a track of where it went like my Wyze vaccuum did. But all it did was empty the dust bin and take off to clean some more. When it was down to about 7% battery, it came back and docked. I wasn't sure if it was done or not. About 4 hours later, sure enough, it took off. At that point I knew I wouldn't be able to deal with not knowing where it had been and how much it had cleaned. I initiated a return and the unit is all boxed up and ready to go back. It's really a shame that SharkNinja has such great products but such a lousy app to go with those products. My new vacuum - a different brand with a reputation of having a great app that tracks and provides real time position data and history - will arrive tomorrow.
