How durable, could it survive a toddler climbing on it?

This is a lovely storage chest but I don't think I'd trust it to hold a toddler.

What material are the straps in the front of the trunk made from?

Mine is a lighter version of this trunk, but looks like made the same. The straps are a thin leather or imitation leather.
