Waykar 150 Pints Energy Star Dehumidifier with Pump Review I recently purchased the Waykar 150 Pints Energy Star Dehumidifier with Pump to replace a 155-pint commercial Waykar crawl space unit from 2021, whose compressor failed. After nearly two weeks of use, I am highly satisfied with this unit’s performance in my 2700 sq ft unfinished basement, where it maintains a steady 50% humidity at 60-65°F during summer conditions. Below is a detailed review of my experience. Pros: Very Quiet Operation: The unit operates with minimal noise, making it suitable for continuous use without disturbing the household. Convenient Mobility: Equipped with wheels and a sturdy handle, this dehumidifier is far more convenient to move than the commercial crawl space unit it replaced. Familiar Size and Design: It is only slightly larger than my existing Waykar 120-pint model, with a familiar design that made setup and operation straightforward. Competitive Price Point: Despite not being Waykar’s latest model, it offers excellent value for the performance and features provided, though long-term energy costs may offset the initial savings depending on usage and duration (see below). Mechanical Swing Flap: Unlike the newer model, this unit includes a mechanical swing flap that effectively distributes airflow, enhancing dehumidification efficiency. See video for operation Outstanding Customer Service: This is my third Waykar unit, and their exceptional customer service continues to instill confidence in the brand. Cons: Lower Efficiency Compared to Newer Model: The unit has an Integrated Energy Factor (IEF) of 1.8 L/kWh compared to 2.01 L/kWh for the newer model, representing an 11.67% efficiency improvement for the newer unit. This translates to approximately 1.65 kWh/day in energy savings, or about $95/year at $0.16/kWh for continuous operation, which may offset the lower initial cost depending on usage duration and frequency. Hose Connection Design: The hose connection feels less secure than the one on my 120-pint unit, which I found more robust and reliable. See pictures for details Additional Notes This dehumidifier is rated at 150 pints under conditions of 95°F and 90% relative humidity (RH), which differs from the AHAM standard of 80°F and 60% RH. When adjusted for AHAM standards, its capacity is approximately 80 pints, so buyers should compare it appropriately with other units. I have not utilized the pump feature, so this review does not cover its functionality. For reference, I’ve included photos showing the size comparison with my 120-pint unit and the design differences in the hose outlets. Overall, the Waykar 150 Pints Dehumidifier is a reliable and efficient choice for large spaces like my basement. Its quiet operation, mobility, and solid performance make it a worthy successor to my previous unit, despite minor drawbacks in efficiency and hose design. The efficiency difference may impact long-term costs for heavy users, but Waykar’s stellar customer service and the unit’s competitive price point make it a compelling option.

Ordered on Amazon and it came within 2 days. Was double boxed. Unit was upside down when received. Removed unit from packaging and let sit for 24 hr prior to plugging it in as directed. It was easy to setup. We hadn't had a functioning dehumidifier for almost 3 weeks. The humidity in the house was 73% when I turned it on. We have a Condo with 3 floors. I started it about 3 in the afternoon and by 8 it was already full. The next 3 days I had to empty it 2-3 times so it is definitely doing the job well. I got tired of emptying the drawer so I bought a hose and connected it to the unit and placed the other end in our drain. That has been working excellent. Humidity is now down to 40% which is where I prefer it to be. Our 3rd floor is still a bit high in humidity but I have our furnace fan on and it seems to be drawing it down a little more each day. This Model YDZ-150 was recommended by Waykar as it is the latest model. It is supposed to be for up to 7000sf. I wanted one that wasn't going get overworked even thought we only have 2000sf total. It is very quite and runs without issues. We are very pleased overall at this point. Very happy with purchase.

This relatively small dehumidifier really does the job of taking humid air out of commission in my home. My house is a little over 1700 square feet of space and this Waykar is quite capable. The controls are easy to use and well lit. And it's very quiet, so quiet that unless I'm in the living room where we have it, I really can't hear it. I'd recommend this unit for any home under 2000 square feet.
