Illustrated Tales of King Arthur Review: Makes a beautiful gift - I bought this as a gift for my 4 year old and it made a wonderful gift. Although fewer than expected the illustrations are lovely and I am confident this is a book he can grow with. Review: Beautiful - This book is small but thick. It has beautiful illustrations and a lovely attached ribbon bookmark. We read this as a family and enjoyed discussing the classic themes. Afterwards, we all started noticing Arthurian themes everywhere! So glad that my kids (5 to 10) could understand the themes and follow the stories. This was our first of this series of books and we have since purchased many others. Check the information at the back of the book before starting the story for a great background.

Good edition!
Stories are essy to read to a 4 year old. He likes the fist couple stories best. He will probably enjoy the pther ones better as he grows older.

Great book for everyone!
A fantastic read for our 4 year old and myself apparently. We feel so entertained throughout the book. I was sad that one chapter was read without me and I have to read it again to our son. Easy to read, gripping, and entertaining.

Beautiful Illustrations, Classic Writing
I bought this for my granddaughter to read about more knights' tales and this book did not disappoint. All the intrigue and chivalry is there, and the illustrations are magnificent.

Excellent Quality
This book is of excellent quality from what I can tell. Crisp, clear and large printing, great for young readers. Illustrations are very nice, though could include more of them. Even has a ribbon place marker attached to the spine. Very happy with this purchase.

Hardly any illustrations.
Stories read easily. But, “illustrated” is an exaggeration. We also have the Greek Myths and Stories from Dickens, both of which have pictures on every page. King Arthur has an illlustration at the beginning of each story, and is *very* sparse in the middle. So, five stars for the readability and no stars for its darth of pictures. I bought all these books for my 4 year old. Arthur and Dickens arrived yesterday, and we’ve read the entire Oliver Twist three times already but could barely drag through the first story in Arthur. The Greek Myths we’ve had almost a year and she just devours it to the point where I hide the book when I just can’t stand to read another myth. I think she would like Arthur just as much if it had the promised illustrations. My goal has been to expose her to great and important stories while I still have some influence. I think she will enjoy Arthur at about age 8 or so, when pictures become less important, but what a shame she cannot also enjoy the book now. Plus, I could have bought something else with the money I spent. Below are photos of three successive pages. Boo on Usborne for this.

The book has some nice illustrations at the beginning of each chapter. We acquired it as an introduction to the legends of King Arthur for our son. For a six-year old, the story is sometimes still a bit complicated (and not enough pictures in between), so we switched to the Usborne Young Reading version for now. But I assume this version will be perfect when we try it again in two years.

I'm an older reader with some background knowledge from when I was a schoolboy, and I loved this particular telling of the tales and the illustrations. I found it to be an easy, entertaining, read. I bought this book as a gift for an eleven year old boy, with a younger sister and an older sister. In that context, this book works as well as any, and better than most.
