It's important to distinguish between digestive enzymes and proteolytic (aka systemic) enzymes. Both are important. However, the former only works if taken with food; the latter only works when your stomach is not digesting food. Proteolytic enzymes carry out numerous repair and maintenance tasks in the systems of body - hence, the description 'systemic'. The body produces systemic enzymes naturally but, unfortunately, because we now cook most of our food, the body's enzyme production is directed towards digestive enzyme production, meaning there's little raw material left for proteolytics. This, in turn, means repair and maintenance of the body receives much less attention than it should or could. I bought these capsules after listening to Clive De Carle who reported these enzymes had shown very promising results for those people who had scar tissue and who suffered from adhesions. They contain an enzyme that eats “rouge proteins” which are scar tissue and adhesions. I have both but it was the adhesions I particularly wanted to ward off as they have caused some serious issues for me from previous surgeries. For them to be effective for scar tissue and adhesions, you have to take these capsules at least 2hrs before or after eating. (ie, on an empty stomach) I don’t take them every day, but 2 or 3 times a week. Of course, the only way I will know if they have worked, is if I manage to avoid a hospital stay (or major emergency operation) for another bowel obstruction, as happened to me in the past.
