Good size for documents. It is heavy, which means it isn't easily carried off. The combination dial is a bit sluggish, but its probably expected for a safe in this price range, I guess.

Mechanical combination lock worked extremely well. I am used to combination locks and found the operation smooth and easy to use. The key unlockes the safe, but often requires jostling and slamming the door to relock and remove key. One could easily break the key if they forced it. The fire rating for this safe is excellent. The water proof rating is mediocre. It is much more important to to have the fireproof rating. Using silicone food storage or sous vide bags that withstand 425 F while remaining water tight in immersion handles any waterproofing one would need for documents, jewelry or collectables. Also I completely avoided any electronic lock due to battery and inability to repair when safe is locked. Combination locks have proven useful life that can be decades. I would not expect this from any electronic lock mechanism. What guarantee is there for electronic replacement parts to still be available if the display or keypad fails 10 years after purchase? Ever had an old battery corrode and damage irreplacable parts? If you are looking for high theft security, this unit can be bolted to its base support. However it's light weight would allow a commited thief with unlimited time to steal the entire unit. However, my goal was to have casual theft protection for home use that I can easily move if necessary.
