Lonely Planet Bali, Lombok & Nusa Tenggara: Detailed Itineraries | Travel Like a Local | Insider Tips | Covers Canggu, Ubud, Lombok, Gili Islands, and more (Travel Guide) Review: so helpful... - I love lonely planet guides when I travel. This one got a lot of use in Indonesia. My only critique is the quizzical way in which they display only certain restaurants on the local city maps in the book. In Ubud, for example, the book only listed a handful of vegetarian friendly restaurants. To my delight there were so many vegetarian restaurants, many more than indicated in the map. Not sure how the editors/writers decide on those, but my only feedback on this book. Otherwise all accurate and fantastic! Review: What Has Happened to Lonely Planet? - This is probably the last Lonely Planet book I will buy (I have probably 100 Lonely Planet books). Lonely Planet has strayed far from its roots. The photos are lovely, the writing is crisp and flowing. But basic information on hotels, transport, restaurants, etc.? Sorely lacking. If I want a picture book, I will probably buy a DK travel book. If I want information I will buy Rick Steves for Europe and likely Rough Guides or even Fodor's or Frommer's for the ROW. Good Bye Lonely Planet. It was a good 40 years. You will be missed.

Good for Bali, not much info on Lombok or Nusa Tengarra.
Good enough. Really not much beyond Bali. Lombok is only briefly covered. Nusa Tengarra barely at all. Bali coverage is excellent.

Not that well laid out and it’s just ok as a travel guide.
It’s ok. Not a very well laid out book. I’ll use it only because there isn’t much else on the market. There is a woman solo traveler book about Bali that is much more helpful.

In my opinion, the Lonely Planet guide books are the best guide books, and the same goes for this one. There is a bunch of valuable information, in addition to loads of colored photos, background information and great first-hand advice! Whenever I plan a trip, I get a Lonely Planet in order to start with! Don't wanna miss it!

Compared to past editions this was disappointing. The book feels alot thinner than previous editions. When looking into smaller areas like nusa dua there is barely any information beyond what you could easily find on YouTube or an online blog.
