I have one of these S340 cameras set up and working through a Eufy Homebase 3, which records the camera event videos on its SSD. The data connection is WiFi. The camera's battery is topped up by the included solar panel. The set up has operated for a month without problem, including one week when we were away on holiday. It is attached in the shelter of a balcony (so I cannot comment on how weather-proof it is) and looking at our back garden. The wide angle lens and the motion detection function have good fields of view. Installation was straightforward - I like the included mounting widget, which allows the camera to be pointed as required. Set up was easy, although the system's reporting of signal strength is a bit twitchy. The wide angle, telephoto and night (B&W unless the camera's light is turned on) views are crisp and good resolution. I can use the pan and tilt function from my mobile. I can view live the back garden or review any event videos on my Android mobile. I also have the app on my PC but that's more fiddly to use. I have used the AI which now recognises family members. The human detection is OK but while we were away it did once register an inquisitive bird as human! Despite it being winter, the solar panel keeps the camera battery fully charged. That said, I have the panel located so that it has a good view of any sun we get. I am happy with this camera. If it continues to function as at present I will be delighted.

If you are going to buy this and expect the same functionality as the Eufy E340 but without the wiring then I have to disappoint you. The E340 is vastly superior to this because as a wired floodlight it has powerful lamps, out of bounds PIR to detect movement where it isn’t filming, and it even has a cruise mode to periodically patrol left and right for potential threats. This S340 solar cam has none of those features. It has the same dual lens zoom capabilities, but because it is battery powered, the features I mentioned above were omitted from this device so it can preserve battery. This is a shame for those who want the same features, but I think the compromise for the battery life is a necessary evil. However, this camera does still have AI tracking to follow detected subjects and the zoom is still very good. If you do not want to drill to wire the floodlight, this is your best battery option as no other battery camera can beat it in terms of functionality. The solar panel it comes with is also incredibly efficient, charging the camera even with an overcast so battery is topped up. All in all, if you keep your expectations in check this is one of the best battery cameras for the money. The spotlight built into it is quite pathetic, only enough to record the subject in colour but not illuminate surroundings well. If you pair it with a separate cheap solar powered floodlight and set the camera to record motion then this can become a great combination for capturing people at night

I’ve had this Eufy battery-powered, solar-charged camera for a few months now. It’s a well-built piece of equipment - solid design, easy setup, and it worked fine through the summer, charging to 100% almost every day. However, as I’m writing this (3 November), the battery is down to around 68% and dropping 1-2% daily. It’s hard to tell if it’s charging at all since the solar panel dashboard has stopped working - a known issue that’s been discussed on Reddit for over a year, and Eufy still hasn’t fixed it. I’m using the "Optimal Surveillance" mode, but it doesn’t seem to record full sequences, which really undermines its purpose. Overall, it’s a nice gadget, but practically useless for proper surveillance. Nothing beats a wired power setup - I have four other Eufy cameras that are permanently powered, and none of them have these issues.

U don't need any hombase with it... And it works lovely. It have internal storage.

Easy to install and set up - but mine proved unreliable almost to the day that its warranty expired. It now fails to record activity on a daily basis. I wouldn’t bother with this manufacturer if I were to replace it.

Does what it says on the tin!

Pas toujours simple de vérifier la bonne connexion du panneau solaire même quand le tet du cable dit "ok". Une de mes 3 caméras ne chargeait pas - aucune idée pourquoi - et après avoir passé par deux fois 20 mn avec un contact amazon puis vérifié une à une mes caméras la troisième a fini par détecter son panneau solaire.

Handige, veelzijdige camera met een goed scherp beeld. Is zowel met een HomeBase (3) als standalone te gebruiken via de smartphone app. Installatie is een kwestie van rustig aan en goed lezen.

Dieser Kauf gehört zu den wenigen, bei denen wirklich alles stimmt und perfekt funktioniert. Die Einrichtung der Kamera ist sehr einfach und funktioniert einfach perfekt. Ich hatte mich vorher gefragt, wie man wohl die Kamera mit dem Heim-WLAN verbindet und mir hatte schon vor der Eingabe von WLAN Passwort und sonstigen Angaben über einen Touchscreen o.ä. gegraut - aber es war viel einfacher. Zunächst die Kamera per Bluetooth mit dem Handy bzw. der App verbinden und dann in der App die weiteren Angaben wie Name und WLAN Pw eingeben. Schon ist die Kamera verbunden und lässt sich über die Cursor-Pfeile in der App in alle Richtungen bewegen und schickt direkt Warnungen, wenn man selber ins Bild gerät. Die Verbindung mit dem WLAN funktioniert sehr gut über 2 Etagen und auch ins Freie, wobei die Kamera draußen auch eine Etage tiefer als der Router und einige Meter von der Hauswand entfernt angebracht ist. Die Montagehalterung für die Regenrinne ist empfehlenswert, denn ohne diese müsste man je nach Anbringungsort mehr "basteln" Die Einrichtung von App, WLAN und die Anbringung draußen haben in Summe kaum eine Stunde benötigt. Die Bildqualität ist sehr gut und man kann sogar in ein angehaltenes Video noch hineinzoomen, um z.B. Autokennzeichen zu erkennen. Selten war ich so zufrieden mit einem Produkt.
