Night Angel: The Complete Trilogy (The Night Angel Trilogy) Review: Great book. I can't put it down. Assassins and magic, what's not to love? - I love this book! The characters are interesting and well written, and the fights are great. The main character starts as a common street kid and is trained to be a master assassin (called a "wetboy") by the best wetboy in the city. Wetboys differ from regular assassins for a few reasons but most of all because they can use magic. The magic is interesting and not like the typical wizard who throws fire around also. The first book reminds me of the first book of the Mistborn trilogy, the way it takes a kid from the streets and he learns how to fit in and make friends with the upper class. Also the main character becomes friends with another kid that is in line to possibly take the throne. Basically if you liked the first Mistborn book check these books out. Also this is a trilogy but all together in one massive paperback for a great price. Review: Dark and gritty, but very good. - This is a really fantastic, but also exceptionally dark, series of novels. It's a series that delves into shadowy and potentially unpleasant topics like murder for hire, rape, violence between and upon children, and more. It's not light-hearted series, nor one that shies away from showing ugly realities. That being said, it's a thrilling read with lots of action, deep characters, and a very interesting story throughout. It's not a story of black and white, but a story of grey, darker grey, and the deepest black. This omnibus edition is a huge book, coming in at more than 1200 pages, and is a really good value for the price when you consider both the length as well as the quality of the story.

Must Read!
This Trilogy has been one of the best reads of my life. It has brilliant characters who you can't help but to fall in love with, an enjoyable Magic system and a gripping and interesting story line which reveals something new with every read. Having read the Trilogy before through the individual books this was a must buy for me so as to have all the books with me at one time, plus the two extra chapters included helped too. I highly recommend this Trilogy to anyone who is a fan of the genre as well as anyone who isn't as after reading the Night Angle Trilogy you most certainly will be.

Really enjoyed it, likable protagonists, I recommend it!
I really enjoyed this series! I have been devouring fantasy series lately (Dark Tower by Steven King, A Song of Ice & Fire by George RR Martin, The Cult of Yex by C Parker Garlitz & Jason Smith, and just starting the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb.) Basically I finished Dark Tower series about a year ago with my mind absolutely blown thinking nothing could ever suck me in like that did, but then I started ASOIAF and was once again completely immersed. When I got to the end I was so devastated that the next book wasn't out yet, so I got on Google and searched "what the heck should I read while I wait for the next ASOIAF book??" That's where I came across the Night Angel and Fareseer Trilogies. PROs: The story moved pretty quickly, there were some great fight scenes, some really neat and likeable characters, and some pretty well-developed antagonists. I can see this series making the silver screen - if they tone down the graphic violence a bit (hard to do with a story about assassins) I can see it having really broad mass appeal. CONs: At times I felt the story moved a little too quickly and Brent could have dug a little deeper into the character development. Also, and perhaps I was tainted by just having read Dark Tower and ASOIAF, but (SPOILER ALERT) there was a bit too much of the good guys winning, and even when you think they lose, they end up winning anyway. So that part I thought became a bit too predictable as the story unfolded, but like I said, Dark Tower and ASOIAF take that concept to the absolute other extreme, so maybe I was not in a normal state of mind to accurately judge that! =) Regardless of that, I did really enjoy the series and would recommend it. Although I do regret buying the combo book (I thought I was getting 3 individual books) because it was inconvenient to lug around - so go with the individuals =)

*WARNING* MAJOR SPOILER PITFALL, READERS BEWARE!!
I love this book, I'm about halfway through the third book in the series. I'm not going to review the book here as so many others have already done so succintly, but there is ONE thing that I feel I have to mention and forewarn other readers, as it has have already happened to me. If you already have this book and are reading it, or even if you haven't and is awaiting for it, please take heed. This book is pretty hefty and quite complex, and there is an amazing glossary of terms/concepts and an index for characters within, which I check often for further clarification and/or reminders as I read. This is where the trap lays. About one, or maybe two page prior to the start of the "glossary", is the last page of the book (maybe). At the beginning of this page immediately (or not) preceding the glossary is two words, TWO WORDS that will COMPLETELY ruin your experience of the book (it did for me, although I'm still enjoying it, I'm actually quite horrified at this happening). My eyes were just automatically scanning words as I rifle through to the back, and inadvertently read the beginning of that section on that -last?- page; as it were, I'm too afraid of reading more major spoilers to actually turn the pages to tell you which page it is, but please take my word for it. A simple fix would be to have a dedicated bookmark for the glossary section alone (I didn't have one), which will make sure you don't make same mistake I did. Obviously a minor hindsight on the publisher's behalf, and probably won't get fixed or anything like that, so PLEASE help others avoid the same trap. As I've said, these two words have greatly affected the way I read this book and was such a MAJOR SPOILER that, I can only now imagine how the book would have been if I hadn't known what was going to happen... please vote for others to see

Só a um ponto negativo: a entrega! A história é maravilhosa.

The story itself is one of my favourites, so I decided to get it for my brother's birthday. However, the book came with a massive cut halfway up the front cover and through 12 pages. I'm not pleased, at all.

I'm a huge fantasy junky but I get tired of the same old thing. But I decided to pick up The Way of the Shadows when I was in a local book shop and loved the front cover cause I thought the character kinda looked like Altair from the Assassin's Creed video game by Ubisoft. What I got was a book that was nothing like Assassin's Creed nor any of the other High Fantasy cliche's that permeate the market. The Night Angel Trilogy is some of the best storytelling to be had out there. I recommend it to everyone who will listen to me that even has a slight interest in fantasy. Although to be fair I wouldn't really call this traditional fantasy. It is a dark but inspirational tale that makes you want to believe in yourself. I honestly don't think I've ever come across such engaging, emotionally involving characters. It may just be me to be fair but I don't think so. To see the high's in life we also have to know the low's and this book shows us both. Yes there is swearing, and there are parts of the book that might make you cringe at the horrors of what the characters that you love are exposed to. But these are all things that happen in the real world and the story is richer for it. I don't want to oversell this book but I also don't think I've done it justice. It's simply one of my favourite books/trilogies of all time. But don't believe me. Here are the links to other websites with more reviews so you can get an idea of how good these books truly are.
