I have to say, this is actually a great kit for the money. Basic yes, but a decent way, if you take it at a slow enough pace to while away an hour or so with a little one and let them (and you) get excited about all the different fossils you find and can learn about. Its basic in that all you do is chip away at a plaster block and carefully remove the individual pieces but they clean up well, the book does a decent enough job at showing you what each one is and allows you to learn a little in the process. For the money,I think they make a good treat, stocking filler or small present for any child that even has a passing interest in the world of fossils (or other kits like gemstones etc.). We actually bought another, larger kit at another time after this one to excavate and add to the collection, went down just as well as this kit.

Absolutely brilliant kit. Kept my 7 year old grandson interested for hours. The quality of the fossils was excellent and the written brochure of information was outstanding. Excellent, educational value for money.

Best gift ever. Nephew loved it and kept him occupied for ages. The variety of fossils is great for kids. I recommend putting something down to do it on like a tray or paper as it can get messy towards the end.

Quite messy and my nephew got bored of trying to chip through it after a while. He loved looking at all of the fossils though once they had been dug out. It came with a wide range of different fossils which he enjoyed comparing to his fossil book to find out more about them all. It was a good size and the fossils are reasonable. Good gift that kept him engaged and interested for a while, even if his mum then had to take over near the end.

Amazing product there is so much in there. There's a book to identify each fossil and information on each one. Bought for a teen definitely one for older kids and even adults, not that younger kids wouldn't also love it. The brushes work really well to help remove the fossils as quite hard bristles to use properly. Amazing value for money, super fun, very good size, lots of info and all round fab kit.

Amazing gift for kids.

My son really loved this product. Contains real fossils and the book that comes with it that describes the fossils was excellent. The highlight for him was a large , well detailed partial trilobite and a mosasaur tooth. Well worth the money and a good few hours of fun.

My sister bought this for my 6 year old son and it was such a hit I've bought it 3 times now for friends of his for their birthdays and I've had very good reports back from all the parents every time! Of course the "poo" is always a giggle inducing component!
